This study aims to examine the literary representations of the book and the reader in the novels of Sami Tchak. The fact that the Togolese author's novels are deeply rooted literary recollection reveals a direct link between writing and social issues. Literary references become the structuring principle of his works, which often depict readers "erudite readers". "Ordinary people" as well as a large number of highly-educated persons often read only books from the canon, those by well-known authors. This reflection is based on a corpus of narrative texts (novels and short stories) and on an eclectic approach which theoretical and methodological tools are borrowed from the comparatism, the institutional approach and the discourse analysis. The goal is to show that as a literary theme, the University strips off its pedestal and undergoes a more or less severe criticism under the pen of Cameroonian intellectual writers. Psychologists and psychoanalysts distinguish between testimony, or personal accounts, and discourse, a fixed societal account. Because genocide, for the survivor, is not a subject of study, we must not only look at the various discourses concerning the genocide, but at their effect on the survivors. We describe how the post-G-Gacaca therapy groups, established to help survivors who had participated in Gacaca assemblies, demonstrated how expression is only effective when it is directed at someone and this person agrees to hear it and be affected by it.

The narrative about surviving is by definition an impossible narrative due to the enormity and absurdity of the tragedy. It is characterized by a fragmentary aspect which is a sign of its resistance to utterance. Based on Révérien Rurangwa’s Génocidé, the following reflection proposes to read the fragment as a manifestation of a traumatic memory that language fails to carry out due to the distortion of the signifying process in which the signified seems to take priority to the signifier. The theme of travel occupies an important place in African literature for two reasons. The earliest African writers wanted to substitute their own discourse for the one that had been produced by the West for centuries and which was long considered to be the sole legitimate discourse on Africa. By portraying African heroes and/or narrators who embarked on voyages to Africa or to Europe, African writers showed that the African too could be a traveler.
