Introduction: In this retrospective study, we evaluated the effects of Jefferson’s medical nutrition therapy (MNT) program on weight loss. We anticipate that participation in the MNT program will lead to an improvement in weight and metabolic syndrome parameters.

Methods: We selected a convenience sample of 10 participants with BMI > 25 for this pilot retrospective chart review. Subjects were screened for various exclusion criteria such as past bariatric surgery, heart failure, malignancy, renal dialysis, and uncontrolled conditions such as hypothyroidism, anemia, or B12 deficiency. Background: KardiaMobile is a mobile ECG device, with smartphone connectivity, that is able to detect atrial fibrillation (a-fib). The device captures a 30 second reading and an algorithm differentiates a-fib from sinus rhythm. The mobile application can alert the user to an a-fib reading and also send the ECG output to their personal physician. By monitoring a-fib without accessing traditional care, KardiaMobile has the potential to reduce healthcare costs for patients with a-fib. This study looked to evaluate the effect of KardiaMobile on healthcare utilization for patients with suspected or diagnosed a-fib and who see a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist.

Introduction: FEMA’s Hospital Emergency Response Training (HERT) prepares healthcare workers to decontaminate patients during a mass casualty incident. This depletes the emergency department (ED) staff when they are needed most though. Developing an interprofessional student composed HERT team to screen and decontaminate affected populations will allow ED staff to handle more medically complex situations during a mass casualty event.

Introduction: Hospital at Home (HaH) programs deliver hospital-level care in the home setting rather than in the traditional inpatient unit. In the US, this model of care has focused on the general medicine population, but no such models for adult oncologic care have been described in the literature to date. The current study seeks to identify whether certain diagnoses of patients with cancer admitted to observation status are predictive for early discharge and potentially model diagnoses on which to build a HaH program.

Introduction: Computed tomography (CT) is the current gold standard for diagnosing dental abscesses in the Emergency Department (ED). There are limitations to using CT, including high cost, radiation exposure, and lengthy time to diagnosis. Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is an alternative imaging modality that does not have these limitations, and is already used to diagnose other soft tissue abscesses. Introduction: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common emergency department (ED) presentation with a variety of outcomes. Stratifying AP severity with scoring systems can allow physicians to effectively manage patient disposition.

Objective: To identify ED pancreatitis patients who will likely be admitted to the ICU or be discharged within 48 hours, and to validate existing pancreatitis severity scores.
