Formulation And Evaluation Of Resistive Inks For Applications In Printed Electronics, Sughosh Satish Bhore
Formulation And Evaluation Of Resistive Inks For Applications In Printed Electronics, Sughosh Satish Bhore
Masters Theses
In the 21st century, it has been shown that printing methodologies can be used to print electrically functional devices on a variety of substrates. In comparison to conventional electronic manufacturing methods, printing is a more cost effective and less complex process. The requirements for manufacturing Printed Electronics (PE) components are much more demanding than graphic printing applications due to the additional requirement of easy electron flow. This additional requirement increases the need for print uniformity and layer-to-layer registration to a much higher degree. In this work, hybrid UV-curable, water-based, electrical resistive inks were formulated. Inkjet inks were prepared by …

Fuctional Properties Of Phthalocyanine Dye Based Inks, Yumeizhi Jia
Masters Theses
Currently, inkjet printing techniques are getting more attention. They have the features of non-contact and additive patterning feasibility, compatibility with different substrates (the materials on which the ink is printed), low temperature processing, and low cost (1) (2). They can be used for patterning solution processable polymers or nanoparticle inks on various substrates including conductive materials, paper and glass (3). The need for proper functional inks is increasing every year. The goal of my work was to formulate a phthalocyanine water based ink, which can work as a dielectric ink. In my research, all the materials which were used to …
The Onset Of Purely Elastic And Thermo-Elastic Instabilities In The Taylor-Couette Flow: Influence Of Gap Ratio And Fluid Thermal Sensitivity, Mohammadreza Ghanbari
The Onset Of Purely Elastic And Thermo-Elastic Instabilities In The Taylor-Couette Flow: Influence Of Gap Ratio And Fluid Thermal Sensitivity, Mohammadreza Ghanbari
Masters Theses
Linear stability analysis of Taylor-Couette flow of dilute polymeric solutions has been performed by using two prototypical constitutive equations for polymeric solutions namely, the Oldroyd-B and the FENE-P models. The hydrodynamic stability characteristics of the flow in presence and absence of thermal effects and in the limit of vanishing fluid inertia have been determined using an eigenvalue analysis. Particular attention has been paid to accurate determination of the instability onset conditions as a function of fluid thermal sensitivity and gap ratio. We observe a reduction in the critical Deborah, Dec for the instability onset as the gap ratio and fluid …
Improved Deinkability Of Lep (Liquid Electrophotography) Digital Prints, Zheng Wei
Improved Deinkability Of Lep (Liquid Electrophotography) Digital Prints, Zheng Wei
Masters Theses
Digital printing plays a very important role in the life of modern society. With the development of digital printing technologies, and the increasing market share of digital printing, the amount of digital prints in waste paper is rapidly increasing. Under “green” manufacturing and environmental sustainability, deinking of digital print inks is an urgent problem that needs to be solved. Indigo is a typical series of HP (Hewlett-Packard) digital presses that use a liquid ink named ElectroInk (Liquid Electrophotography or LEP). The particle size of HP ElectroInk is very small, 1-2 microns, which is smaller than dry toners. But, during flotation, …
Filomicelle Functionalization And Stability Studies With Applications For Malaria Treatments, Megan Haoyun Yang
Filomicelle Functionalization And Stability Studies With Applications For Malaria Treatments, Megan Haoyun Yang
Masters Theses
Malaria is an infectious disease caused by the parasite Plasmodium that is transmitted by mosquitoes. It is estimated that malaria causes 1.1 million deaths per year globally. While anti-malarial drugs have been effective in treating infected individuals, new methodologies are needed. Treatments may benefit from approaches that encapsulate drugs in vehicles allowing for more effective delivery. To this end, the use of targeted drug delivery vehicles called filomicelles to treat malaria is proposed.
Certain amphiphilic diblock copolymers self-assemble into filomicelles (long and stable cylindrical micelles), which are capable of carrying hydrophobic drugs in the bodies of rodents. It is shown …
Application Of Synthetic Biology For Increasing Anaerobic Biodiesel Production In Escherichia Coli, Michael Christopher Wierzbicki
Application Of Synthetic Biology For Increasing Anaerobic Biodiesel Production In Escherichia Coli, Michael Christopher Wierzbicki
Masters Theses
The ever-increasing demand for transportation biofuels requires new and novel approaches to solve the complexities associated with efficient biofuel production. Ethanol, the most common biofuel, has physical limitation associated with difficulty of separations and issues with water contamination and as such is not a long-term transportation fuel solution. (Lou & Singh, 2010; Wheals, Basso, Alves, & Amorim, 1999) Biodiesel is seen as a possible alternative to ethanol due to its hydrophobicity and also has comparable energy density and cetane number to its petroleum derived counterpart. (Kalscheuer, Stölting, & Steinbüchel, 2006) Because of feedstock limitations, biodiesel produced from vegetable oils is …
The Impact Of Selective Solvents On The Structure And Function Evolution In Solvent Annealed Organic Photovoltaics, Sheng Hu
Masters Theses
The role of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) solubility on the evolution of structure and function in solvent annealed organic photovoltaics is quantitatively investigated. ODCB solvent vapor distribution during the solvent uptake process is simulated on a 3-D profile. Determination of solvent uptake in the P3HT/PCBM mixture shows that the evolution of the morphology during solvent annealing (SVA) takes much longer than the diffusion of the solvent vapor into the sample. The evolution of P3HT crystallinity, as well as the growth of PCBM aggregates, in the solvent annealed thin films is observed by Grazing Incidence Wide …
A Base Case Design And Capital Cost Analysis Of An All Vanadium Redox-Flow Battery, Mark Alan Moore
A Base Case Design And Capital Cost Analysis Of An All Vanadium Redox-Flow Battery, Mark Alan Moore
Masters Theses
Interest in the development of redox-flow batteries (RFBs) for large-scale grid storage is growing, and considerable investments have been made into the research and development of RFBs over the past few decades. Unfortunately, practical implementation has been hampered by various cost and performance issues typical of an immature state of development. One critical factor for the competitiveness of this technology is the installed cost. The purpose of this work is to develop an evolutionary procedure to be used for the base-case design of a Vanadium Redox-Flow Battery, and to incorporate recent developments in all-vanadium RFB research in order to present …
Extended Color Gamut For Flexographic Printing, Gaurav Dinesh Sheth
Extended Color Gamut For Flexographic Printing, Gaurav Dinesh Sheth
Masters Theses
The advancement in technology and the necessity to satisfy the increasing quality requirements has aroused the need for use of extended color gamut in flexographic printing. The information about extended gamut inks and ink systems is not easily available therefore, it is essential to define ink sets and color sequences that will produce optimal results in the flexographic printing process. The results were produced by evaluating color gamut volumes obtained by printing with four color process inks, and additional ink sequences, as well as by evaluating other print parameters that provide evidence in support of the research work. Special focus …
Comparison Of Class Ii Injection Well Area Of Review Requirements With Area Of Evaluation For Hydraulically Fractured Wells, Yashesh Jitendra Panchal
Comparison Of Class Ii Injection Well Area Of Review Requirements With Area Of Evaluation For Hydraulically Fractured Wells, Yashesh Jitendra Panchal
Masters Theses
"Since 2010 the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been proposing plans to study, and has now initiated research regarding the potential impact of hydraulic fracturing processes on drinking water sources. Their work refers to an 'Area of Evaluation' around a hydraulically fractured well, inferring that the wells immediately around hydraulic fractured wells should be studied, to evaluate the conditions of these wells and their potential to contaminate overlying USDWs. Class II injection wells must have a minimum 1/4 mile radius area of review to determine the condition of wells surrounding the proposed injection well. All wells within this AOR …
Tensile Failure During Structural Development Of Single-Layer Buckle Folds, Xiaolong Liu
Tensile Failure During Structural Development Of Single-Layer Buckle Folds, Xiaolong Liu
Masters Theses
"Folds and fold trains of sedimentary strata are among the most common structural traps systems for hydrocarbon reservoirs. The existence of tensile fractures associated to buckle folding is associated to the distribution of extensional strain in the outer arc of the fold hinges. This study investigates the conditions under which tensile stresses develop due to buckling in a realistic in situ stress scenario. By applying a 2D finite element modeling approach, the influence of realistic mechanical stratigraphy (including strain rate, overburden depth, competence contrasts, viscosity, and permeability) on the development of single-layer buckle folds with Newtonian viscous rheology is studied. …

Kinetics Of Human And Bovine Insulin Amyloid Fibril Formation In The Presence Of Solid/Liquid Interfaces, Paulina Barranco Morales
Masters Theses
"The purpose of this thesis was to study the rate and extent of aggregation of human and bovine insulin in bulk and in the presence of either polystyrene microspheres with different surface chemistries or liposomes of different composition. Insulin aggregation was followed by turbidimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and dynamic light scattering. The Congo red assay was used to corroborate the presence of amyloid deposits and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to analyze the morphology of the amyloid deposits. Our results show that not all the surfaces shortened the lag time. On the other hand, most surfaces had …

Computational Fluid Dynamics Flow Comparison Between Openhole Sleeve And Plug-And-Perf Completion In A Hydraulic Fractured Horizontal Well, Viriyah Theppornprapakorn
Masters Theses
"Multi-stage hydraulic fracture completions in horizontal wells have facilitated economic development of natural gas from unconventional and tight gas reservoirs.Industry has relied on two horizontal multi-stage completion technologies: cemented and perforated liner or Plug-and-perf method and Openhole Sleeve Multi-stage method. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, one of the most important questions is which method yields better gas production? Computation fluid dynamics (CFD) is a powerful tool for solving complex fluid flow problems. In well completion design, CFD plays a significant role aiding the completion engineers on making decision on well completion methods. In this study, a …
Gas And Water Flow Through Nanoscale Porous Media, Songyuan Liu
Gas And Water Flow Through Nanoscale Porous Media, Songyuan Liu
Masters Theses
"This work provides a lab experiment to describe the fluid diffusion in nanoscale porous media. By using ideal ceramic membranes which have uniform pore size in nanoscale and homogeneous pore distribution instead of shale or tight sandstone which have various pore sizes and complicated pore distribution and structure, a better understanding of fluid flow through nanoscale porous media could be gained.
Core flooding test were conducted by injecting nitrogen and water separately to describe gas and liquid flow in nanoscale porous media. With all the other factors known or controlled, pressure and flow rate were measured to calculate permeability. By …
Comparison Of Square Root Of Time Approach And Statistical Approach To Minimize Subjectivity In The Determination Of Minimum In-Situ Stress, Soumitra Bhaskar Nande
Comparison Of Square Root Of Time Approach And Statistical Approach To Minimize Subjectivity In The Determination Of Minimum In-Situ Stress, Soumitra Bhaskar Nande
Masters Theses
"A formation's minimum in-situ stress is an important parameter to determine for hydraulic fracturing. While minimum in-situ stress, and its orientation, can be measured from triaxial tests on core, it is more common to measure it as closure stress, by performing pressure testing of wells in the field. Closure stress is considered equal to, or a good approximation of the minimum in-situ stress for most cases. The analytical methods applied to such pressure testing include the square root of time plot, G function plot and the G-dP/dG plot. These plots require the engineer to fit tangent lines to the data, …
Robust Methods For Construction Of Global Potential Energy Surfaces, Phalgun Lolur
Robust Methods For Construction Of Global Potential Energy Surfaces, Phalgun Lolur
Masters Theses
"This thesis is about the development of robust methods for construction of global potential energy surfaces to study the spectroscopy and dynamics of molecular systems. A potential energy surface represents the electronic energy of a molecule as a function of its geometry. This is central to how chemists view molecular systems in terms of motion across a rich energy landscape where barriers separate wells corresponding to different stable structures. The range of molecular distortions defines the potential energy surface. Computing the potential energy surface of a molecule has become a fundamental operation in modern theoretical chemistry studies. The Born-Oppenheimer approximation …
Protein Aggregation At Solid/Liquid Interfaces: A Monte Carlo Study With Explicit And Implicit Solvent Effects, Rehman Fazeem
Protein Aggregation At Solid/Liquid Interfaces: A Monte Carlo Study With Explicit And Implicit Solvent Effects, Rehman Fazeem
Masters Theses
"Metropolis Monte Carlo (MC) simulations were performed with positively charged peptides in aqueous solution to study changes in peptide conformations at solid/liquid interface, and its effects on protein aggregation. Intermediate-resolution diblock model peptide, comprising of 10 units of ALA (non-polar) and LYS (polar) amino acid residues, was used for the simulations. In the first approach to modeling, solvent effects were considered explicitly. The explicit model was then used to study two peptide molecules, in helical structure, at solid/liquid interface. In order to increase the number of peptide molecules in the simulation box, with reduced computational cost, an implicit solvent model …
