A kinetic and equilibrium study of the reaction of triphenylphosphine (PPh₃) with pentacarbonylaminetungsten (O) [(CO)₅WNH₂C₆H₅] has been reported previously. Equilibrium constants for the reaction (CO)₅WNH₂C₆H₅ + PPh₃ = (CO)₅W[P(C₆H₅)₃] + C₆H₅NH₂ in toluene were reported to be 17.1, 49.2 and 65.7 respectively. In addition, the entropy change (ΔS) for the reaction was found to be 86±5 cal mol^-1 deg^-1.

Thirty-two, naive, albino rats were randomly assigned to one of eight treatment groups with four members per group. The apparatus used was a modified one-way avoidance chamber developed by Baum (1965). The variables studied were the effects of a retraining anxiety relief condition, a hierarchical presentation of tone with the anxiety relief condition, different inter-trial intervals, and the interactions of these variables. All subjects were given the anxiety training to a ninety decibel tone and one-half of the subjects were given anxiety relief training. The Use Of Behavior Modification To Control The Classroom Behavior Of Socially Maladjusted Junior High School Students, Jack L. Wheeler

A base rate of disruptive and inappropriate classroom behavior was obtained for 40 junior high school children from a program for the socially maladjusted. Teachers involved with these subjects were given a six week in-service training program reviewing the basic techniques of operant conditioning. Parents of 12 subjects were trained in operant conditioning and were asked to use these techniques to control inappropriate behaviors of the subjects at home. When a social and token reinforcement program was introduced in the classroom for all 40 subjects, the frequency of disruptive and inappropriate behavior declined in all subjects. Gastro-Intestinal And Abdominal Helminths Of White-Tailed Deer (Odocoileus Virginianus) In Southern Illinois, Thomas W. Cook

In November and December 1971, forty deer from five southern Illinois counties were examined by necropsy for gastro-intestinal and abdominal helminths. Eight species of gastro-intestinal nematodes were found: Gongylonema pulchrum, Spiculopteroides odocoilei, Ostertagia mossi, Haemonchus contortus, Cooperia sp., Capillaria sp., Trichuris ovis and Oesophagostomum venulosum. Setaria yehi, a filiariad nematode, was found in the abdominal cavity. Moniezia benedeni was the only cestode found. No trematodes were recovered.

Polecat Creek is an occasionally intermittent stream which drains approximately 18,368 acres in eastern Coles County, Illinois. It travels 15.2 miles through cropland and a partially wooded valley before it enters the Embarrass River 3 miles upstream from Lake Charleston. The stream ranges from 0.5 foot to 5 feet deep at a normal water level, with an average depth of 16 inches. It averages 12 feet wide, with a range from 4 to 20 feet.

The hemoglobin of Tubifex tubifex is found in solution in the blood of the worm in cells as in vertebrates. The binding of oxygen to the hemoglobin can be followed spectrophotometrically. A peak of absorbtion at 540 nm is fairly constant under different condition, while a peak at 575 nm disappears from the spectrum when oxygen is removed. The hemoglobin contains heme, non-heme iron and protein.

Binding of oxygen to the hemoglobin was found to be dependent on the concentration of the hemoglobin, at low concentrations (4.16 x 10^-6 M), oxygen could not be removed from the hemoglobin. Only …
