Aerobic And Anaerobic Performance Changes Following Three Training Phases In Men's Soccer Players., Tony Jouaux May 2011

Aerobic And Anaerobic Performance Changes Following Three Training Phases In Men's Soccer Players., Tony Jouaux

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The aim of this study was to determine if playing 5 soccer matches in 4 weeks after 8 weeks of strength, conditioning and soccer training further improves aerobic and anaerobic performances. Ten college soccer players (20.1 ± 1.2 yr) completed three different training phases. Maximal aerobic testing, skinfold 7-site and counter movement jump (CMJ) were performed at the beginning of the study (Tl), at the end of 8 weeks of training (T2) and at the end of the 13 weeks of the study (T3). Repeated measures ANOVA followed by a Post-Hoc test Least Significant Difference indicated that CMJ increased by …

Perceptual Judgment The Impact Of Image Complexity And Training Method On Category Learning, Michael T. Curtis Jan 2011

Perceptual Judgment The Impact Of Image Complexity And Training Method On Category Learning, Michael T. Curtis

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The goal of this dissertation was to bridge the gap between perceptual learning theory and training application. Visual perceptual skill has been a vexing topic in training science for decades. In complex task domains, from aviation to medicine, visual perception is critical to task success. Despite this, little, if any, emphasis is dedicated to developing perceptual skills through training. Much of this may be attributed to the perceived inefficiency of perceptual training. Recent applied research in perceptual training with discrimination training, however, holds promise for improved perceptual training efficiency. As with all applied research, it is important to root application …

Peak Performance Training, Matthew Gabriel Hallett Jan 2011

Peak Performance Training, Matthew Gabriel Hallett

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Peak performance is defined as an “episode of superior functioning” where an individual performs up to (and sometimes exceeds) their full potential (Privette, 1983, p. 1361). Most individuals do not consistently experience episodes of peak performance. After accounting for biological factors, motivation, and external constraints, the inability to achieve peak performance consistently is due to the challenge of successfully selecting and accessing knowledge and skills on demand while under pressure (Brown, 2009). This thesis describes the psychology of peak performance and skill training for peak performance. A peak performance training program is designed specifically for business professionals. The program was …
