Baseline neurocognitive assessments are recommended to assist with concussion management in athletes, but there is no research available regarding the psychometric properties of the Immediate Post-concussion Assessment & Cognitive Testing (ImPACT), the most widely used assessment tool, in children younger than high-school age despite its assertion that it can be used as young as 11 years old. The purpose of the present study was to determine the two-week test-retest reliability of the ImPACT neurocognitive test in a healthy sample of young athletes. This study examined convergent and discriminant validity for the Children’s Active Play Imagery Questionnaire (CAPIQ; Cooke et al., 2014), which assesses the frequency of one’s imagery use for active play. In order to establish validity for the CAPIQ, four questionnaires were utilized including the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale for Children (PACES for children; Moore et al., 2009), the Sport Imagery Questionnaire for Children (SIQ-C; Hall et al., 2009), the Sport Friendship Quality Scale (SFQS; Weiss & Smith, 1999), and the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory for Children (CSAI-2C; Stadulis et al., 2002). The present study used the Organismic Valuing Theory as a theoretical framework to investigate the relationship and predictive ability of internal coping strategies and external support with perceived stress related growth (SRG) for mothers and fathers raising children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Positive reframing coping, active coping, perceived social support, and low levels of stress predicted perceived SRG. The construct of perceived SRG was also found to be different from internal coping strategies.
