The goal of this study was to understand how instructors use technology, and what challenges they face, but also to increase the participants’ understanding of Active Learning Classroom (ALCs) technologies as it applies to their teaching by applying action research methodologies. This study also seeks to lay a foundation for additional research on ALCs, education technology, and the needs of instructors in terms of faculty development in technology. The concept of professional identity of counselors is a recent area of focus within the counseling profession. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs standards for counselor education programs of all specialties reflect the trend towards establishing a strong professional identity for counselors. One factor shown to be influential in professional identity development has been experiential learning opportunities, which allow counselors-in-training to develop an individual professional identity through application of educational content in real-world scenarios. Globalization along with expanding education for global citizenship has increased experiential learning possibilities for high school youth. Educators presume that student exchange will offer authentic and transformative opportunities for high school students to experience personal growth while immersed in a different culture abroad; however, little empirical research has been done on adolescent students to explore and validate these assumptions. By examining the intersection of reciprocal international exchange, adolescence, and social class privilege, this study explored the developmental impact of exchange on privileged U.S. high school students.

Global competition and a down-sized labor force require manufacturers to use lean manufacturing practices. Current professional development models, however, are suboptimal in guiding efforts of first line supervisors to help workers improve their skills in solving manufacturing problems. This study employed an interpretive qualitative research methodology to explore what supervisors and workers experienced as the key factors that helped workers learn how to use lean manufacturing practices. Eight individuals who worked in an aerospace manufacturing plant located in the northeast United States participated in the study. The purpose of this study was to understand the experience of students in a graduate course on the topic of Reflective Practice (RP). A phenomenological method was utilized to frame interviews with eight students discussing challenges to their beliefs and assumptions that arose during the course.

Based on a thematic analysis of the interview data, three major figural themes and one ground theme emerged.
