In the field of experiential education, there is a general understanding that concepts and definitions of experiential education and experiential learning differ by individuals, departments, organizations, and institutions. The purpose of this quantitative descriptive research study was to gather the perspectives of individual experiential educators across higher education (n = 121) on what they perceive to be experiential education’s criteria and what forms of educational methodologies qualify as experiential learning forms. The findings demonstrated inclusive perspectives regarding both criteria and forms, such as receptiveness to experiential education being able to occur within classrooms, in short durations, and without third-party participation. …

Algebraic reasoning is the beginning school of thought to critical thinking. Employers are looking for this 21st century skill. The purpose of this research was to investigate equity in mathematics education using the NCTM Teaching and Learnings Beliefs Survey. Four area were studied: the number of years in education, the degree earned, the grade level taught in education, and the number of years in an educator’s teaching position. A mixed methods inventory was used. Most results were not rejected in this study. Two statements in the survey warranted a discussion. Recommendations were made for further research.

This qualitative, design-based research study focuses on teaching citizenship to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The participants were middle school students who communicate in a variety of ways, many of whom don’t use speech. In the State of Illinois, the general education population is required to pass the U.S. Constitution test. However, in spite of a mandate that students with disabilities should have access to the general education curriculum, students with significant intellectual disabilities are not required to learn about the constitution or their rights as citizens. Fiscal Transparency In The Era Of California's Local Control Funding Formula: An Analysis Of Funding Levels, Expenditures, And Student Achievement, Blanca Baltazar-Sabbah

This research presents an analysis of California’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) before and after implementation (AY 2013 to AY 2016). Funding allocations, expenditures, and student achievement data were analyzed across nine school districts in Northern California. Findings revealed a significant increase in state and local funding after implementation of LCFF for all districts. Statistical analyses showed larger districts received the greatest increases in funding and per pupil funding increases with the number of students who were eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL). While these trends were consistent both before and after the implementation of LCFF, the percent of …
