Inunigrants make up a considerable proportion ofthe Canadian population, and are needed to support the Canadian economy. Immigrants appear to be having difficulty entering the labour market, even when achieving educationalsuccess. Answersastowhyareincompleteandtendnottotake immigrant diversity (especially in terms of country of origin and gender) into account. Toexplorelabourmarketoutcomesofworkers,thisstudyuseddata from the Ethnic Diversity Survey, and sought to examine the impact of country of birth, gender, education and age at arrival on immigrant labour market outcomes. Given the magnitude of health consequences resulting from physical inactivity, a need exists for the development of strategies which enhance adoption of and adherence to exercise programs. Some exercise intervention studies have examined body image change in relation to change in body composition (i.e., the relative amount of fat-free mass vs. fat mass in the body). However, these studies have produced mixed results with some studies showing no relationship between change in body image and change in body composition and others showing a significant relationship. Animals appear in every canto of every book of The Faerie Queene. This dissertation seeks to accentuate the strangeness of Spenser’s animals as well as to counter it. By placing Spenser’s epic in dialogue with early modem natural history, with which it shares a constant didacticism, I argue that the strangeness of his animals must first be recognized and then remedied by learning what was “meant” by those animals in the culture Spenser inhabited and helped make. Despite the accepted view that the early nineteenth century in Russia was a time of political relaxation and liberal reforms, little is known about the intellectuals who contributed to the development of the Russian liberal thought. Among the many reasons behind this neglect is a long-standing assumption about Russian liberals' indifference to the issues of individual rights and freedoms that comprised the essence of European liberal ideology.
