This study examines the relationship between the distance 1975 high school seniors intended to move, referred to as intended distance, and socioeconomic and psychological factors. The research is based on information collected from separate samples of about 900 graduating seniors from the rural, urban and metropolitan areas of Utah. Utilizing the type of boundary that would be crossed in carrying out an intended move as the proxy for distance, it was found that 14 percent of the youth intended to live most of the rest of their lives out of Utah. In August of 1976, a factory employing 210 workers began a phased layoff of all employees. This study focused on the subsequent reemployment problems of the workers. Specifically, methods of job search were analyzed to determine if they had an influence upon placement and quality of employment.

Two means of data collection were used in this study. Questionnaires were mailed to all former employees of Hesston Farm Machinery Company and oral interviews were conducted with public and private individuals involved with placement assistance to displaced workers.

Important public facilities located in Cache Valley, Utah, were studied to assess their exposure to geologic hazards. Also, the level of geotechnical and geologic expertise involved in the siting, design, and construction of critical public facilities was studied. A discussion of several individual facilities, that were exposed to some degree of hazard, was presented to illustrate the nature of the problem.

Earthquake hazards probably constitute the greatest threat to facilities and to the general welfare of the public. Many earthquake hazard mitigation measures were discussed and recommendations were made, based on aseismic design criteria which has been developed for seismically …

A Study Of Rest Period, Hardiness, And Bud Development Of The 'Concord' Grape, Mervin Gayle Weeks

The length of the 'Concord' grape rest period was evaluated during 1974-75 and 1975-76. Cuttings were placed in a 25 C growth chamber every two weeks from October through April. Number of days to reach 50 percent full bud swell was plotted to determine rest completion. Seven years of weather data and full bloom dates of 'Concord' grapes from Prosser, Washington were statistically analyzed to give another estimate of rest completion. Rest was terminated after about 830 chill units.

During 1974-75 and 1975-76, T₅₀ temperatures were determined every two weeks for both cambium and primary buds of 'Concord' grapes. …
