Synthesis And Characterisation Of Novel Conducting Polymers, And Their Application For Hydrogen Generation Or Photovoltaic Devices, J. Chen
University of Wollongong Thesis Collection 1954-2016
The development of new materials has greatly expanded the application of energy conversion technologies. Conducting electroactive polymers, such as polypyrrole and polythiophenes, containing specific groups represent a new class of electroactive semiconducting materials with great potential application in a number of areas, including hydrogen gas generation and photovoltaic devices.
A range of novel conducting electroactive polymers have been synthesized and characterized in this work. A new electrolytic cell system for hydrogen gas generation and a new solar cell system for photovoltaic (energy conversion from sunlight to electricity) applications have been devised.
Conducting electroactive polymers, polypyrrole and polythiophene, containing pendant group …
Development Of Conducting Polymers For Separations, David Andrew Reece
Development Of Conducting Polymers For Separations, David Andrew Reece
University of Wollongong Thesis Collection 1954-2016
This thesis describes the synthesis and characterisation of a range of novel conducting polymer materials with potential applications in the area of separations. Both polypyrroles and polyanilines are examined. Following a General Introduction and an Experimental Chapter, the new studies are described in Chapters 3 to 7. In Chapter 3 it is shown that polypyrrole doped with either -cyclodextrin sulfate (-CDS) or -cyclodextrin sulfate (-CDS) is readily deposited electrochemically. Electrodeposited polypyrrole has been characterised using UV-Vis spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, AFM, SEM, microanalysis, and electrical conductivity measurements. This electrodeposited polypyrrole can easily be prepared as a composite membrane (with Pt-coated PVDF) for …
Electrochemistry Of Aligned Carbon Nanotubes, Mei Gao
Electrochemistry Of Aligned Carbon Nanotubes, Mei Gao
University of Wollongong Thesis Collection 1954-2016
The discovery of carbon nanotubes in 1991 attracted a great deal of interest resulting in numerous investigations into their unique electrical and mechanical properties. The development of fabrication methods that allows preparation of aligned carbon nanotube arrays has been of particular interest lately.
Pyrolysis of iron (II) phthalocyanine in one zone of a furnace and subsequent deposition of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the second higher temperature zone in the same furnace has been investigated in this work. The resulting multi wall carbon nanotubes (MWNT), with average diameter 50 nm and length 15 um are well aligned and normal to the …
