Reinforcing And Rehabilitative Performance Of Basalt Fibre Reinforced Polymers For Concrete Beams, Jason Philip Duic
Reinforcing And Rehabilitative Performance Of Basalt Fibre Reinforced Polymers For Concrete Beams, Jason Philip Duic
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This thesis presents the experimental results of laboratory testing conducted on full-scale concrete beams that are reinforced and rehabilitated with basalt fibre reinforced polymer (BFRP) products. The first study compares the structural behaviour of BFRP and steel reinforced beams. It was found that current design standards were able to predict the shear capacity of BFRP reinforced beams with varying accuracy. However, it was found that BFRP stirrups without proper bends did not prevent shear failure. Thus, proper BFRP stirrups need to be developed. The second study was on flexural strengthening and rehabilitation of concrete beams with BFRP composite. It was …
A Retrospective Analysis: Injured Youth Athletes' Imagery Use During Rehabilitation, Matthew David Miller
A Retrospective Analysis: Injured Youth Athletes' Imagery Use During Rehabilitation, Matthew David Miller
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to expand our breadth of knowledge and fill a gap in the literature regarding injured youth athletes’ imagery use during injury rehabilitation, using a retrospective qualitative approach. The participants were 12 young adults who had sustained an injury as an adolescent (during the previous five years) forcing them to miss time in their sport due to the injury. During the interviews, the participants described their use of imagery during sport injury rehabilitation including when, where, why and for what purpose they used imagery. They reported using imagery during sport rehabilitation for cognitive, motivational, pain …
Experimental Study On Corroded Steel Beams Rehabilitated Using Bfrp Wrap, Sahan Yashoda Jayasuriya
Experimental Study On Corroded Steel Beams Rehabilitated Using Bfrp Wrap, Sahan Yashoda Jayasuriya
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
There are many structurally deficient bridges in service all around North America. These bridges can cause a potential danger to public safety, and thus, are in desperate need of replacement or rehabilitation. Flexural rehabilitation of corroded steel beams using Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) and Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) have been studied in the past. However, studies have not been conducted on the rehabilitation of corroded steel beams using Basalt Fibre Reinforced Polymer (BFRP). This research examined the feasibility and effectiveness of using BFRP fabric for the rehabilitation of corroded steel beams by performing full-scale tests and developing finite …
