Pb1770-A Guide For Considering And Developing A Farmers Market In Tennessee, The University Of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service
Marketing, Finances and Value-Added Agriculture
Soybean farmers face a variety of marketing alternatives each year. Selling to a grain buyer at harvest is one way to sell soybeans. Another alternative is to store soybeans (either commercially or on-farm) and sell them later. Farmers may also set a price for their soybeans before harvest by signing a cash-forward contract with a grain buyer. The contract specifi es the quantity, price, grade, quality and date of delivery. Because prices have been historically lowest during harvest, storing and cash-forward contracting are ways to price soybeans before or after the harvest season, in hopes of achieving higher prices.

Forestry, Trees, and Timber
Eriophyid mite species cause a variety of pouch galls on red, sugar and silver maples. Pouch gall formation, a localized growth reaction of the infested plant, occurs as a result of mite feeding activity. The species of mite can be identified by the specific characteristics of the gall on the host plant.

Sp341-V-Sampling Stored Grain For Insects, Molds And Related Problems, The University Of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service
Field & Commercial Crops
The periodic and timely sampling of stored grains can detect existing or potential problems before considerable damage has occurred. Proper sampling of stored grain can reveal increases in moisture or temperature and insect or mold problems in the grain.
It is important to be aware of the potential hazards of sampling inside a grain bin. Suffocation can occur in grain bins, and sampling should be done with caution.

Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is a mouse model of multiple sclerosis characterized by infiltration of activated CD4(+) T lymphocytes into tissues of the CNS. This study investigated the role of CD43 in the induction and progression of EAE. Results demonstrate that CD43-deficient mice have reduced and delayed clinical and histological disease severity relative to CD43(+/+) mice. This reduction was characterized by decreased CD4(+) T cell infiltration of the CNS of CD43(-/-) mice but similar numbers of Ag-specific T cells in the periphery, suggesting a defect in T cell trafficking to the CNS. The absence of CD43 also affected cytokine production, …

The Tennessee Department of Health received a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop a statewide program targeting children at risk for lead poisoning. TDH entered into a partnership with The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service (UTAES) to develop and distribute materials statewide. The materials are targeted at parents, health care providers, health departments, real estate agents, Extension county faculty and anyone else in a position to impact the lives of children.

THE INFORMATION INDUSTRY is international. With major English-language online publishers based in the Netherlands, Germany, and Canada (not to mention Alabama and New York), the information you lease may be generated and designed anywhere in the world. Likewise, the issues and challenges facing libraries as they move to large-scale digital collections are global in nature.
Conferences about digital libraries are also international; in September I attended "Digilib: Towards a User-Centered Approach to Digital Libraries" in Finland. Two hundred attendees from over 20 countries discussed how to gather user information for the purpose of designing more useful digital libraries. Sessions were …

Marketing, Finances and Value-Added Agriculture
In March 2001, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Market Development and the University of Tennessee Agricultural Development Center, renamed the Center for Profitable Agriculture (CPA) in 2002, submitted a proposal to the United States Department of Agriculture’s Federal-State Marketing Improvement Program (FSMIP) to create five market development resource tools that would allow users to evaluate market opportunities for valueadded products and enterprises. One of these five goals was to compare Tennessee’s retail business statistics with county populations as a guide for assessing the number of certain types of businesses that specified population ranges can support.

The Dialog version of ISTA was part of Dialog's full-text linking program, and ISTA indexers include URLs in ISTA records when they have them. ISTA's Donald Hawkins explains that "many users don't have accounts with Dialog. ITI cannot offer One-stop shopping.' EBSCO, on the other hand, has a wealth of resources and a large complement of databases...[including] a large collection of full text, which it hosts and has rights to."
