Delicious Nut" is a painfully funny, compassionate, sometimes explosive look at a diverse group of characters at an in-patient psych ward. Their very humanity is tested during a single group therapy session. Joseph Landsman (played by David Warner) is a psychiatric counselor at the ward, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy, which says mind can control mood. However, Joe may be in more need of counseling than his own patients who represent a wide variety of conditions. RE: is design without numbing agents; it’s design beyond Impact and Lara Croft posed all contrapposto on a supermarket tabloid. Our premise is based on working with cheap democratic materials paired in exploitive relationships. Medium follows idea; text and image melt together. His design is fi ne art. Her writing is graphic design. Think of them as two easy going (slow) tectonic plates inevitably inclined to friction. The result is combustion: re.ink.art.nation. In their St. Petersburg debut, Shoes At The Door Dance presents their first evening length work “Ignorance is Bliss?” on January 28-29, 2012 at The Studio@620. "Ignorance is Bliss?" explores the choice we face between isolation and engagement. Blind spots develop when we insulate ourselves from things we deem inappropriate to see, hear or speak of. Throughout the work, intersections force detours and spark improvisation. Using movement, gesture, partnering and text, the dancers maneuver to find a balancing point between avoidance and interaction.
