From its origins, through the draconian Jim Crow, and until present day, 22nd Street South has been a haven and a center for a neighborhood, a movement and a culture. An exhibition of Visual Art and Artifacts by Daniel Nelson. Artist Daniel Nelson will be presenting an exhibition of visual art at Studio@620: "The Shape of Space to Come." The body of works on display are intended to examine issues of space, in the conventions of painting, as well as to critique the experience of space in contemporary cultural and social experience. Mr. Nelson would like to challenge the viewer to consider his or her own perception of space and to provide her or him with an arena of visual play.

Explore printmaking as an artistic medium and the various techniques employed by eight local artists. Printmaking has a utilitarian history, from first being used to print playing cards for entertainment and as a way to disseminate information to a large audience. But in the hands of a creative artist, printmaking takes on a new life and meaning. A variety of printmaking methods will be on exhibit including silkscreen, monotype, relief, and lithograph techniques as well as the tool and materials used in the process.

The Studio@620 will swing through the night as local and legendary jazz performers fill the gallery with live music. Nate Najar is one of only few guitarists who play jazz on the classical guitar. Contrapuntal lines, lush harmony, and a full swinging sound have come to be associated with his guitar work. Jazz icon and ever-popular virtuoso performer, bassist John Lamb will share the stage with Nate Najar. John Lamb performed with the legendary Duke Ellington Orchestra for more than ten years.

This play centers around three characters: Hugo, The Producer, and Rachel. Hugo is young, homeless man; also a filmmaker. The Producer, a drug dealing, pot smoking, Joni Mitchell super-fan, Pellegrino swindling social revolutionary, leader of the band Snack Attack, and movie producer. For Colored Girls who have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf, by Ntozake Shange was a watershed in American Theatre. This original, fierce and haunting Choreopoem, first published 1975 was a clarion call to thousand of African American women, who saw themselves, their struggles and their determinations rendered in vivid, powerful language. The beautiful poetry of the play is immediate and universal, full of homecoming redemption and celebration.
