Lydia Cabrera wrote the stories of Cuba and its African descendant slaves, and each story became a piece of culture, a piece of religion, and a piece of history. She saved what would have been many lost traditions. Lydia Cabrera published over one hundred books in her life; she was an ethnographer, a historian, and a writer. Her writings painted the pictures that preserved the heart of Afro-Cuban culture, SanterĂ­a.
