Eva Vive En Otra Parte: Cambio De Signo E Identidad En Eva Perón De Copi, Karina Elizabeth Vázquez

Latin American, Latino and Iberian Studies Faculty Publications

Partial Wave Analysis Of The Reaction Γp And The Search For Nucleon Resonances, M. Williams, Gerard P. Gilfoyle, Et. Al. Dec 2009

Partial Wave Analysis Of The Reaction Γp→Pω And The Search For Nucleon Resonances, M. Williams, Gerard P. Gilfoyle, Et. Al.

Physics Faculty Publications

An event-based partial wave analysis (PWA) of the reaction γp has been performed on a high-statistics dataset obtained using the CLAS at Jefferson Lab for center-of-mass energies from threshold up to 2.4 GeV. This analysis benefits from access to the world’s first high-precision spin-density matrix element measurements, available to the event-based PWA through the decay distribution of ωπ +π π0. The data confirm the dominance of the t-channel π0 exchange amplitude in the forward direction. The dominant resonance contributions are consistent with the previously identified states F15(1680) and D13(1700 ...

Differential Cross Sections And Spin Density Matrix Elements For The Reaction Γp, M. Williams, Gerard P. Gilfoyle, Et. Al. Dec 2009

Differential Cross Sections And Spin Density Matrix Elements For The Reaction Γp→Pω, M. Williams, Gerard P. Gilfoyle, Et. Al.

Physics Faculty Publications

High-statistics differential cross sections and spin-density matrix elements for the reaction γp have been measured using the CEBAF large acceptance spectrometer (CLAS) at Jefferson Lab for center-of-mass (c.m.) energies from threshold up to 2.84 GeV. Results are reported in 112 10-MeV wide c.m. energy bins, each subdivided into cos θωc.m. bins of width 0.1. These are the most precise and extensive ω photoproduction measurements to date. A number of prominent structures are clearly present in the data. Many of these have not previously been observed due to limited statistics in earlier measurements.

Neural Replay : A Possible Mechanism For Differing Rehersal Strategies Across Parity, Cassie Brooke Jones Dec 2009

Neural Replay : A Possible Mechanism For Differing Rehersal Strategies Across Parity, Cassie Brooke Jones

Master's Theses

All mammalian females undergo behavioral and neurological changes during pregnancy and motherhood. Many of these changes lead to an enhanced ability to be an effective mother including: increased memory, foraging behaviors, and boldness. Here, we examined the differences in rehearsal strategies between mother and virgin rats. Stops made by rats when exploring their environment have been found to result in reverse replay activity in the hippocampus (Foster & Wilson, 2006). Reverse replay is sequential replay that occurs in the hippocampus immediately after a spatial experience; this replay/activation is in reversed order of the initial spatial episode (Foster & Wilson, 2006). Thus, rats are replaying the steps they have just taken. Here, animals were introduced into a linear track for 3 consecutive days. The number and duration of stops were recorded. We found that parous females made fewer stops compared to virgin females; however, they stopped for the same duration. Therefore, we propose that parous females may utilize reverse replay activation differently than ...

"A Change Has Swept Over Our Land": American Moravians And The Civil War, Adrienne E. Robertson

Master's Theses

When they first came to North America, the Moravians—a pietistic, Germanic Christian sect—settled in isolated communities where only a few people ventured out to do missionary work for the community. They separated themselves from their non-Moravian neighbors, one missionary community serving the North from its seat in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and the other serving the South from Salem, North Carolina, and neither participating in civic or military life. Then, over the course of a few decades, economic and civic circumstances forced the Moravians in North America to adapt their ways to be more like those of their non-Moravian neighbors ...

Physics Faculty Publications

The g factor of the 2+1 state of 172Hf was measured using the perturbed angular correlation technique in a static external magnetic field. The result, g(2+1) = 0.25(5), is discussed in relation to the systematics of the previously reported g factors in the Hf isotopes and compared with the predictions of several models. An interesting outcome of the analysis presented in this paper is the agreement between the calculated g factors within the interacting boson approximation (IBA) and the results of a large-scale shell model calculation. This agreement supports the emphasis in the IBA on ...

Electroexcitation Of Nucleon Resonances From Clas Data On Single Pion Electroproduction, I. G. Aznauryan, Gerard P. Gilfoyle, Et. Al. Nov 2009

Electroexcitation Of Nucleon Resonances From Clas Data On Single Pion Electroproduction, I. G. Aznauryan, Gerard P. Gilfoyle, Et. Al.

Physics Faculty Publications

We present results on the electroexcitation of the low mass resonances ∆(1232)P33, N(1440)P11, N(1520)D13, and N(1535)S11 in a wide range of Q2. The results were obtained in the comprehensive analysis of data from the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) large acceptance spectrometer (CLAS) detector at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) on differential cross sections, longitudinally polarized beam asymmetries, and longitudinal target and beam-target asymmetries for π electroproduction off the proton. The data were analyzed using two conceptually different approaches—fixed-t dispersion relations and a ...

"Gun Show Loophole" Bills: A Study Of Legislative Misdirection In 2009, Phillip Van Cleave

Richmond Public Interest Law Review

In the wake of the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007, which left thirty-two students and faculty dead at the hands of a student armed with two handguns, gun-control organizations saw an opportunity to press their legislative agenda items forward with vigor. A host of gun-control bills were introduced in the 2008 and, to a lesser extent, the 2009 General Assembly sessions. For pro-gun groups, Virginia Tech's policy of not allowing any guns on campus was more proof that gun control only disarms good people. These groups argued that criminals, by definition, ignore the law and will simply get their ...
