Prescription Of Opioids To Youth 2005-2016: An Examination Of Trends, Patient Characteristics, And Outcomes Through 12 Months, Melissa Pielech
Prescription Of Opioids To Youth 2005-2016: An Examination Of Trends, Patient Characteristics, And Outcomes Through 12 Months, Melissa Pielech
Psychology ETDs
Data on all outpatient opioid prescriptions (N=71,647) to youth below age 21 (N=42,020) from 2005-2016 were extracted from electronic medical records within a university hospital system, including demographic characteristics, markers of morbidity, and mortality. Relative risk was calculated for markers of morbidity and mortality based on sociodemographic characteristics. The sample was primarily male (55.0%), Hispanic/Latino (50.1%), English-speaking (88.9%), and publicly insured(50.1%). Mean age was 13.54 (sd = 6.50). From 2005-2016, overall frequency of opioid prescriptions increased by 86.6% (from 2470 to 4610) with the largest increase (206.2%) observed from 2005-2008 (2470 to 7562). Patients who …
The Borderpsychosocial Development Project: Is There A Specific Psychosocial Consciousness That Frames Development For Border Women?, Maria Gloria Munguia Wellman
The Borderpsychosocial Development Project: Is There A Specific Psychosocial Consciousness That Frames Development For Border Women?, Maria Gloria Munguia Wellman
American Studies ETDs
Often placed at the center of psychotherapeutic training rhetoric are the notions of cultural sophistication, competency, and responsiveness; however, these notions are often pushed to the margins of practice. This qualitative and interdisciplinary community project explores an important strand of psychosocial development that has always already existed, but had yet to be named. Psychosocial consciousness develops, through time, as a natural human response to our day-to-day experiences and encounters. These experiences and encounters form, reinforce, and perpetuate systems of understanding of self and others which profoundly impact our experience in the world. The exploration of the psychosocial development of a …
On The Use Of Independent Component Analysis & Functional Network Connectivity Analysis: Evaluation On Two Distinct Large-Scale Psychopathology Studies, Michelle Juárez
On The Use Of Independent Component Analysis & Functional Network Connectivity Analysis: Evaluation On Two Distinct Large-Scale Psychopathology Studies, Michelle Juárez
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
Medical image analysis techniques are becoming ever useful in allowing us to better understand the complexities and constructs of the brain and its functions. These analysis methods have proven to be integral in revealing trends in brain activity within individuals with mental disorders that are distinguishable from what would be considered normal' activity within healthy populations. This has led us to gaining a better understanding of functional connectivity within the brain, especially within populations suffering from mental disorders. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is one of the leading techniques currently being implemented to explore cognitive function and aberrant brain activity …
The Effects Of Signal Rate, Schedule Variability, And Observing Response In Visual Monitoring, David W. Bessemer
The Effects Of Signal Rate, Schedule Variability, And Observing Response In Visual Monitoring, David W. Bessemer
Psychology ETDs
The present experiment was designed to study the independent effects of signal rate and intersignal interval variability upon detection performance in a visual monitoring task.
The Cortical Destruction Necessary To Produce A Transfer Of A Forced Practice Function, Patricia E. Barnett
The Cortical Destruction Necessary To Produce A Transfer Of A Forced Practice Function, Patricia E. Barnett
Psychology ETDs
The present study is aimed at mapping the cortical region which controls forced practice of the handedness function, in the hope that such delineation may provide a specific region for the study of the neural equivalent of practice.
An Investigation Of Certain Personality Factors Of Two Groups Seperated On The Basis Of A Color Association Test, Paul Raymond Binner
An Investigation Of Certain Personality Factors Of Two Groups Seperated On The Basis Of A Color Association Test, Paul Raymond Binner
Psychology ETDs
It would be of interest to explore, in greater detail, further possible differences between these two groups, the "high orange" and "low orange." Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to seek possible differences between the two groups with respect to certain more specific personality variables. The importance of such a study, in addition to shedding light upon the characteristics of groups separated by means of the color association test, is also seen in the fact that it might provide information bearing upon the understanding, prediction and control of behavior-problem cases.
Sound-Induced Seizures In Rats Reared On Diets With High Sugar Content, Lois L. Benedict
Sound-Induced Seizures In Rats Reared On Diets With High Sugar Content, Lois L. Benedict
Psychology ETDs
The present study was not designed to investigate the controversy on carbohydrate metabolism. For experimental purposes, the second possibility mentioned above was assumed to be true, i.e., that, somehow, ingested galactose might possibly be transported through the circulatory system. As long as this theory remains tenable, experimentation based upon it is necessary.
Transfer In Handedness In The Rat Induced By Acetylcholine And Forced Practice, Charles A. Baker
Transfer In Handedness In The Rat Induced By Acetylcholine And Forced Practice, Charles A. Baker
Psychology ETDs
This study was designed to discover the effects of local applications of acetylcholine to the cerebral cortex of the rat in conjunction with forced reaching on handedness.
Possible Factors Influencing Music Preference, Isabella M. Pinto
Possible Factors Influencing Music Preference, Isabella M. Pinto
Psychology ETDs
The purpose of this study is to determine factors influencing musical preference. The most important factor related to preference for classical music is thought by some to be the cultural background of the listener. According to Lazersfeld, "there is probably no question so sensitive to socialize differences as listening to serious music." This is consistent with the opinion of musicians and music critics who state that discriminating musical taste is a result of frequent listening to good music.
A Theoretical And Experimental Study Of Jost's Law, David T. Benedetti
A Theoretical And Experimental Study Of Jost's Law, David T. Benedetti
Psychology ETDs
It is the purpose of this paper to subject Jost's Law to a critical examination, as regards the method by which it was derived, the factors involved in the phenomenon to which it applies, and its validity as a scientific principle. This examination shall consist of a theoretical analysis based in part on an experiment designed in order to observe what may be termed the Jost phenomenon.
