PROBLEM: Medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) is recommended for persons with opioid use disorder (OUD) during pregnancy. However, knowledge gaps exist about best practices for management of OUD during pregnancy and these data are needed to guide clinical care.
PERIOD COVERED: 2014-2021.

AIM: To assess whether an enhanced category combining suicides with non-suicide drug self-intoxication fatalities more effectively captures the burden of self-injury mortality (SIM) in the USA among US non-Hispanic black and Hispanic populations and women irrespective of race/ethnicity.

According to many scholars, discourse has the capacity to create the nation rather than simply reflect it. By purporting to objectively describe reality, various texts turn into authoritative voices that determine the ways in which readers perceive that reality. In the case of the Chorotega of Costa Rica to be discussed here, three dominant indigenist discourses--historical,legal, and anthropological-- have formed a trinity of contradictory, yet definitive, authoritative voices regarding the description and definition of Costa Rican indigenous peoples. The Making Of An Indigenous Movement: Culture Ethnicity, And Post-Marxist Social Praxis In Ecuador, Chad T. Black

The 1990 Indian Uprising staged by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE) forced indigenous issues into the national political discourse of Ecuador through the activities of a post-Marxist, progressive social movement. The formation of CONAIE, in 1986, and the 1990 Uprising were the culmination of an organizational process that began in the 1970s with indigenous regional organizing as a reaction against Marxist/mestizo/ integrationist leadership, repression of traditional leftist organizations, and increasing pressures placed on indigenous communities through Ecuador's heightened position in the capitalist world-economy.
