Defensive Impact Wins: Developing A New Method To Rate Individual Defense In Nba Games, Dylan J. Stiles
Defensive Impact Wins: Developing A New Method To Rate Individual Defense In Nba Games, Dylan J. Stiles
Honors Theses and Capstones
With the analytics revolution in sports in the past 20 years, it seems that everything that can be quantified is. In basketball though, trying to break the game down into a set of numbers comes with a unique problem. While we've come up with a good set of advanced numbers to measure offensive efficiency, defense is fundamentally harder to quantify. The game is played five on five, but it has often been popular or convenient to model defense as a set of five one on one games. As defenses became more complex into the 2010s, this methodology became more insignificant. …

Exploiting More Binaries By Using Planning To Assemble Rop Attacks, Daroc Alden
Exploiting More Binaries By Using Planning To Assemble Rop Attacks, Daroc Alden
Master's Theses and Capstones
Return oriented programming (ROP) attacks have been studied for many years, but they are
usually still constructed manually. The existing tools to synthesize ROP exploits automatically,
such as ROPGadget and angrop, are very limited by their ad-hoc design: they rely on matching
fixed patterns and assembling gadgets in fixed ways. We propose a new method, PEACE, that
uses symbolic execution and partial-order planning to assemble gadgets more flexibly. Our method
incrementally selects gadgets to address a need in the partially-constructed exploit, and infers
ordering constraints over those gadgets based on their effects. This approach enables PEACE to
create exploits for …

Price Prediction In The Sharing Economy: A Case Study With Airbnb Data, Brandon Mcneil
Price Prediction In The Sharing Economy: A Case Study With Airbnb Data, Brandon Mcneil
Honors Theses and Capstones
Many sharing-economy companies like Airbnb have their profits rely on the dynamic pricing market that they participate in. Airbnb hosts can set their own price based on what they deem the market will buy. Recent research argues that almost all hosts fail to maximize their potential profit due to poorly pricing their listing (Gibbs et al., 2018). While previous studies have looked at how specific variables effect the price of an Airbnb listing, this study aims to be the first to group variables separately into two distinct categories based on the host’s ability to control that variable. Looking at two …
The Effect Of Remittance Inflows To India: An Empirical Analysis, Justin Poisson
The Effect Of Remittance Inflows To India: An Empirical Analysis, Justin Poisson
Honors Theses and Capstones
This paper studies the relationship between remittance inflows and GDP in India. An empirical regression analysis is applied to India’s data to analyze the effect of remittance inflows to the level of GDP and GDP growth. Results show that remittance inflows have a positive and significant effect on the level of India’s GDP, and a positive but insignificant effect on GDP growth. Data used in this research come from the World Bank.
Predicting Yelp Food Establishment Ratings Based On Business Attributes, Peter Mark Shellenberger Jr.
Predicting Yelp Food Establishment Ratings Based On Business Attributes, Peter Mark Shellenberger Jr.
Honors Theses and Capstones
Social networking and business review sites play an integral role in the buying behavior of the modern consumer. An individual with access to the internet may observe millions of reviews on almost every type of product and service on the market. Websites such as Angie’s List, Facebook, Yellow Pages, and Yelp all facilitate this process, acting as crowd-sourced hubs for review data. This has major implications for the modern business, as past research shows that reviews and ratings play a direct role on the demand a business receives. With the vast dissemination of review data to the potential buyer market, …
