Video Copy Detection Utilizing Log-Polar Transformation, Daniel Reynolds Jan 2014

Video Copy Detection Utilizing Log-Polar Transformation, Daniel Reynolds

Master's Theses and Capstones

Video Copy Detection is the process of comparing two videos to determine their similarity and determine if they are copies. This thesis enhances some of the common algorithms used in Video Copy Detection by utilizing the Log-Polar transformation as a pre-processing step. This pre-processing step is expected to increase speed of the overall Video Copy Detection process while maintaining the accuracy of the algorithms. The results of this research show that the addition of a Log-Polar pre-processing step reduces the computation time of the overall Video Copy Detection process. The additional time necessary to perform the Log-Polar pre-processing step is …

Metareasoning In Real-Time Heuristic Search, Dylan Mischa Diamond O'Ceallaigh Jan 2014

Metareasoning In Real-Time Heuristic Search, Dylan Mischa Diamond O'Ceallaigh

Master's Theses and Capstones

In real-time heuristic search, a search agent must simultaneously find and execute a solution to a search problem with a strict time bound on the duration between action emissions and thus the duration of search between said emissions. Because these searches are required to emit actions before their desirability can be guaranteed, resulting solutions are typically sub-optimal in regards to total solution cost, but often superior in terms of the time from start of search to arrival at the goal. Metareasoning is the process of deliberating about the search process, including where to focus it and when to do it. …
