Necessary Attributes For Transitioning Military Leaders, Amanda Lavallee

M.S. in Leadership

The US military is a large organization with a defined hierarchical structure that emulates many other large organizations in the private sector. With a large number of military members transitioning into the private sector, there is an abundance of talent that may not be fully utilized. Through research and review of existing academic resources, I have identified some of the leadership qualities that may be indicators of a military leader’s ability to take on leadership roles in other organizations. Although there are correlations, there is the potential for additional research on the challenges of transitioning from one role to the …

M.S. in Leadership

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of internal communication on employee morale and job satisfaction, identify the best methods of communication for information retention, and propose suggestions to improve the perception of internal communication within an office or organization. Introverts In Leadership, Katelyn Carpenter Apr 2019

Introverts In Leadership, Katelyn Carpenter

M.S. in Leadership

This project examines introverts in leadership. It seeks to determine why they seem to be so underrepresented in leadership positions and if there’s any validity to this observation. I am using two primary sources; peer-reviewed literature as well as personality tests and questionnaires which were completed by my management team at my organization. The literature will show that there is a severe imbalance of personality types in leadership roles, explain why this occurs and what can be done about it from both the perspective of an introverted employee and managers who may want to pursue untapped resources.

Examining The Application Of Servant Leader Theory, Benjamin Buzga Apr 2019

Examining The Application Of Servant Leader Theory, Benjamin Buzga

M.S. in Leadership

When Robert Greenleaf introduced the servant leader theory in the 1970s, he provided a vague definition that inspired decades of development by scholars and practitioners alike. Servant leader theory prioritizes fulfilling individuals’ needs, which maximizes their potential and increases performance. Researchers have further refined Greenleaf’s theory, and by doing so, a set of key servant leader attributes has been established. While this has been an important contribution to Greenleaf’s work, translating theory into practice and defining why it is effective have been questions without definitive answers. Furthermore, there is little or no discussion regarding the application of servant leader theory …

Research supports that supervisors have a significant impact on employee retention. The research also shows that there is strong movement away from traditional employee-supervisor relationships towards an employee centric culture.
