Everyone expects a sweet treat on Halloween, and we are no different. What we didn’t expect was a treat that left us with thousands of dollars in damages, and an unlivable part of our home. On Halloween 2019, our neighbors accidently drove their truck across the street, and directly into our property. Fortunately, the accident did not leave anyone injured or harmed, but what it did do was harm our existing plans for the property. The project that I selected to work on is an event campaign designed to keep New Hampshire residents in state for higher education with specific interest towards attracting them to enroll at the University of New Hampshire. In response to the shift in enrollment demographics, the university administration’s central goals are to increase enrollment of New Hampshire students so that a majority of students are from within the state’s borders. Swing Fore Charity with Rochester Social Club is the first annual golf tournament led by the Rochester Social Club, a relatively newly formed non-profit organization. This project was chosen as it will be largest event/project the Rochester Social Club has held and will be the first project/event for which formal methods of Project Management are used. The hope is that not only will this event be the largest for the Club in respect to funds raised, but will serve as a reusable guide for the conduct of future events and projects managed by the Club.

The project I chose was the Incident Notification and Warning System (INWS). The purpose of the INWS mass notification warning system is to provide warning and response direction for all personnel within 10 minutes of incident notification and verification Ultimately, a robust mass notification system is needed at all DOD locations. More recent active shooter events across the country, have emphasized the need for a robust INWS capability that informs all military personnel when a threat is present in there. The project started as a yellow belt lean project to lean out the IT onboarding process. This is still a project I would like to pursue in the future. This project encompassed all the aspects of the renovations for the house all the way from insurance requirements upon purchase, to the needs of each separate unit from floor to ceiling, and a couple other challenges that were met during the duration.
