It concludes with a discussion on improvements future studies in the field can incorporate. Specifically, this review addresses the lack of understanding in regards to the current primary uses of PE (pre-exhaust), and EMG’s (electromyography) drawbacks when used to measure PE effectiveness. Current practices of PE focus on advanced weight training athletes attempting to improve the stimulus to fatigue ratio of their lifting sessions, and reduce their risk of injury.
