As police departments are usually unable to hire in inidividuals with the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities required for successful performance of the policing job, they are tasked with delivering post-academy training to newly hired officers to ensure that they have understanding of the department's policies and procedures. The current study describes the process of implementing portions of the Reno Model of police training (specifically, a daily journal and Problem Based Learning Exercises) into the training program at the Collierville Police Department which follows the San Jose Model of police training.
