Each year the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences celebrates the cultural heritage of a country/region with its Passport to the World Program (PWP). The University of Kentucky Libraries International Programs has been an active contributor to PWP since 2010. We have coordinated liaison librarians’ collaboration with faculty from different departments to annotate and showcase relevant materials from the library’s collections in physical and online exhibits. We have also hosted lectures and movie screenings in which faculty introduce audiences to specific cultural features and practices.

Online collaborative projects have been utilized in a variety of ways over the past decade, such as bringing people together to build open source software or developing the world's largest free encyclopedia. Personal communication networks as a feature do not exist in all collaborative projects. It is currently unclear if a designer's decision to include a personal communication network in a collaborative project's structure affects outcome quality. In this study, I investigated Wikipedia's personal communication network and analyzed which Wikipedia editors are utilizing it and how they are connected to outcome quality. C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective and Triad: Boston’s Choral Collective are the first choirs to explore collectivity as a method of ensemble organization. While more traditional ensembles have a single artistic director, C4 and Triad share and rotate leadership responsibilities among the full membership. Artistic and logistical decisions develop through conversation, consensus, and/or voting.

This monograph draws primarily on interviews with thirteen current and former members of the two ensembles as well as the author’s personal experiences with Triad’s inaugural concert cycle to present a narrative description of member characteristics, governance, and operational processes.
