The present study addressed a core research question of “Can less be more?” concerning study load, which has become increasingly worrisome and controversial around the world. Children experiencing trauma and entering child protective services have been continuously increasing. Problems associated with childhood trauma, such as neurodevelopmental disorder, trauma and stress-related disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorder, externalizing and internalizing disorders, academic problems, relational difficulties, and delinquent behaviors, have been found increasing despite advances in trauma and translational research. Children’s trauma is mostly interpersonal in nature and nested in their immediate environment. There is a need for a change in focus from helping children to overcome challenges and adversities to strengthening the resilience-building process by utilizing functional strengths in the environment to achieve sustainable outcomes. Does Parental Stress Influence Parent-Child Sexual Communication?, Kirstie Otto

This study shined a light on the impact of parent’s sexual attitudes and parental stress has on parent-child sexual communication. A sample of 203 parents between the ages of 30 and 60 were recruited to complete an online survey about their levels of parental stress, their sexual attitudes, and how often they discuss sexual communication with their adolescents. Beliefs that the responsibility of birth control should be shared between all parties involved, set the foundation that there will be higher levels of parent-child sexual communication.
