College Students' Perceptions Of Parental Sexuality, Nancy L. Janisz Jan 1991

College Students' Perceptions Of Parental Sexuality, Nancy L. Janisz

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Pocs and Godow (1977) published research results indicating that college students experienced difficulty in considering their parents as sexual beings. The results of the present study were based on responses of 330 college students to a questionnaire authored by the examiner. Results were compared to Pocs and Godow's results, and research data from Kinsey (1948, 1953) and Hunt (1972), which presented the reported frequencies of sexual activities of the parent-aged population. The comparisons suggest that although estimates of the subjects in the current study were higher in all areas than in the Pocs and Godow data, today's college students still …

Photorefractive Materials For Optical Signal Processing, William B. Lawler Jan 1991

Photorefractive Materials For Optical Signal Processing, William B. Lawler

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The optical response of the photorefractive crystals KNbO3:Ta, KNbO3:Fe, LiNbO3:Fe, and nominally pure BaTiO3 is investigated. In the experiment, a holographic grating is built in the crystal under investigation via a two-wave mixing scheme that utilizes the signal-processing capacities of two acousto-optic Bragg cells. The dynamic interaction of the Bragg cells with the photorefractive grating causes a heterodyned RF signal to appear on the output laser beam, enabling the real-time, direct measurement of the amplitude and phase of the space-charge fields in the crystal. Experimental results are presented for the amplitude and phase …

Surface Mapping And Automatic Tool Path Generation, Labiche Ferreira Jan 1991

Surface Mapping And Automatic Tool Path Generation, Labiche Ferreira

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

With the use of machine vision systems in the manufacturing cycle of a product, the lead time for producing the final product has been substantially reduced. Efforts in the past have aimed at automating the tasks right from the drawing board stage to final production of the product. Such technologies include CAD, CAM, and CAPP. However the task of tool path (NC code) generation has not yet been fully automated. In the current techniques, the user plays a crucial role in the NC code generation process. There is an increasing trend for using machine vision systems in the fabrication of …

Anxiety Levels, Problem Solving Abilities And Social Support In Military Spouses Experiencing Spousal Separation Prior To A Military Confrontation, Elizabeth C. Smith Jan 1991

Anxiety Levels, Problem Solving Abilities And Social Support In Military Spouses Experiencing Spousal Separation Prior To A Military Confrontation, Elizabeth C. Smith

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The effects of spousal separation on military dependents were investigated. Thirty-four female spouses of active duty United States Air Force personnel responded to a mail-out questionnaire following deployment of troops to the Persian Gulf, yet prior to the beginning of the Desert Storm military confrontation. The study examined the state anxiety levels (Spielberger state-Trait Anxiety Inventory), the problem solving abilities (Problem Solving Inventory), and the social support levels (Provision of Social Relations scale) of the subjects. The results of this investigation revealed that the subjects without children perceived themselves to be stronger problem solvers than those subjects with children, that …
