Indole-3-Acetic Acid And Gibberellic Acid Production In Aspergillus Niger, Işil Seyi̇s Bi̇lkay, Şafak Karakoç, Ni̇lüfer Aksöz

Turkish Journal of Biology

The effects of incubation time, temperature, pH, and agitation on indole-3- acetic acid and gibberellic acid production in Aspergillus niger were studied. For indole-3-acetic acid production, 6 days of incubation at 25 °C and pH 6.0 was found to be optimum. Optimum conditions for gibberellic acid production were 12 days of incubation at 30 °C and pH 5.0. Agitation increased both indole-3-acetic acid and gibberellic acid production.

The Toxicity And Teratogenicity Of Gibberellic Acid (Ga3) Based On The Frog Embryo Teratogenesis Assay-Xenopus (Fetax), Ayper Boğa, Seçi̇l Bi̇nokay, Yaşar Sertdemi̇r Jan 2009

The Toxicity And Teratogenicity Of Gibberellic Acid (Ga3) Based On The Frog Embryo Teratogenesis Assay-Xenopus (Fetax), Ayper Boğa, Seçi̇l Bi̇nokay, Yaşar Sertdemi̇r

Turkish Journal of Biology

This study investigated the developmental toxicity of a plant growth regulator (a type of pesticide) using the frog embryo teratogenesis assay-Xenopus (FETAX). Xenopus laevis embryos were exposed to 11 different concentrations of gibberellic acid (GA_3), from stage 8 to 11, for 96 h under static renewal test conditions. The median lethal concentration (LC_{50}), malformation (EC_{50}), non-observed adverse effect concentration (NOAEC), and lowest observed adverse effect concentration (LOAEC) were calculated. The corresponding LC_{50} and EC_{50} values determined for GA3 exposure were 1117.5 mg/L and 658 mg/L, respectively. The TI (LC50/EC50) value calculated for GA_3 was 1.69. Different anomalies occurred in the …

Some Optimal Cultural Parameters For Gibberellic Acid Biosynthesis By Pseudomonas Sp., Şafak Karakoç, Ni̇lüfer Aksöz Jan 2006

Some Optimal Cultural Parameters For Gibberellic Acid Biosynthesis By Pseudomonas Sp., Şafak Karakoç, Ni̇lüfer Aksöz

Turkish Journal of Biology

The current study reports the optimal cultural parameters for GA3 production by Pseudomonas sp. isolated from wastes of processed olive affected by physiological conditions (incubation temperature, pH of the growth media, incubation period, and incubation conditions). The highest level of gibberellic acid (285.06 mg/l) production was obtained in nutrient broth when the bacteria culture was incubated at 30 °C for 72 h at pH 7 on rotary shaker and in the dark.

Effects Of Gibberellic Acid Treatment For Pollen Sterility Induction On The Physiological Activity And Endogenous Hormone Levels Of The Seed In Safflower, Hasan Baydar Jan 2002

Effects Of Gibberellic Acid Treatment For Pollen Sterility Induction On The Physiological Activity And Endogenous Hormone Levels Of The Seed In Safflower, Hasan Baydar

Turkish Journal of Biology

In this research, our aim was to determine the effects of gibberellic acid, which was applied to safflower plants (Carthamus tinctorius L. cv. Dinçer 5-118) for pollen sterility induction, on some physiological activity and endogenous hormone levels of the seeds. Exogenously applied gibberellic acid (GA_3) strongly influenced the endogenous hormone levels of the seeds by decreasing the levels of GA_3 and zeatin, and increasing the levels of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and abscisic acid (ABA). The lowered endogenous GA_3/ABA and zeatin/IAA ratios in the seeds significantly decreased the germination percentage and hypocotyl elongation, respectively. The seeds from GA_3 treated plants had …

Production Of Gibberellic Acid And Cytokinin By Phanerochaete Chrysosporiumme446 Immobilized On Polyurethane Foam, Serpi̇l Ünyayar Jan 2000

Production Of Gibberellic Acid And Cytokinin By Phanerochaete Chrysosporiumme446 Immobilized On Polyurethane Foam, Serpi̇l Ünyayar

Turkish Journal of Biology

The fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium ME446 was entrapped on polyurethane foam to synthesize gibberellic acid (GA 3 equivalent) and Cytokinin (zeatin equivalent). Maximum gibberellic acid was defined on the 6 th day (44.43 µg/mL and 61.22 µg/mL, respectively) in both free and immobilized cells. Maximum cytokinin was defined on the 12 th day (9.61µg/mL and 16.33 µg/mL, respectively) in both free and immobilized cells. An immobilized system of gibberellic acid and cytokinin production resulted in comparatively higher yield than free fungal mycelium.

Effects Of Gibberellic Acid On Male Sterility, Seed Yield And Oil And Fatty Acid Syntheses Of Safflower ( Carthamus Tinctorius L.), Hasan Baydar Jan 2000

Effects Of Gibberellic Acid On Male Sterility, Seed Yield And Oil And Fatty Acid Syntheses Of Safflower ( Carthamus Tinctorius L.), Hasan Baydar

Turkish Journal of Biology

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of gibberellic acid (GA 3 ) on male and female sterility, seed yield, oil and fatty acid syntheses, growth and development properties in safflower ( Carthamus tinctorius var. Yenice). GA 3 was applied in five different doses at three different stages, and induced male sterility at a rate of up to 93.0%. This finding has important implications for the practical use of GA 3 in hybrid seed production. GA 3 applications significantly decreased the seed yield per plant both in isolation and non-isolation. Although fatty acid syntheses did not change …
