2017 Robinson Engine Design, Christian Klem, Alli Giblin, James Gross
ASA Multidisciplinary Research Symposium
The Robinson-Malibu patent is an engine design theory that will reduce emissions, increase MPGs and performance.
What Happens To Nox Emissions Of Vw Diesel Cars When Water/Methanol Injection Is Used?, Andrew Croxell
What Happens To Nox Emissions Of Vw Diesel Cars When Water/Methanol Injection Is Used?, Andrew Croxell
ASA Multidisciplinary Research Symposium
Volkswagen has come under fire for their "Clean Diesel" automobiles that were found to emit too much NOx (Oxides of Nitrogen) when driven on the street. Since NOx is created by high temperature combustion events, the addition of a water/methanol injection system was tested on a VW diesel vehicle to identify if it could cool combustion temperatures and thus reduce NOx to an acceptable specification.
Advanced Multi-Speed Transmissions And Their Effect On Fuel Economy, Durability And Reliability, Sean Boyle
Advanced Multi-Speed Transmissions And Their Effect On Fuel Economy, Durability And Reliability, Sean Boyle
ASA Multidisciplinary Research Symposium
In a challenge to meet the high corporate average fuel economy (CAFE), manufacturers are using transmissions with 8, 9, and 10 speeds. This oral presentation addresses vehicle fuel economy impact with advanced multi-speed transmissions and also forecasts the reliability and durability when compared to a conventional 5 and 6-speed transmission.
Siuc Green Fund Research Project: Using Waste Motor Oil As Diesel Fuel, Blaine M. Heisner, Dustin C. Nance, Tyler Frascone
Siuc Green Fund Research Project: Using Waste Motor Oil As Diesel Fuel, Blaine M. Heisner, Dustin C. Nance, Tyler Frascone
ASA Multidisciplinary Research Symposium
An update of the ongoing research project to validate the repurposing of waste motor oil into diesel fuel. This research was sponsored by the SIUC Green Fund. This project will benefit the University by: reducing WMO disposal fees, reducing diesel fuel costs, encouraging student participation, promoting alternative fuel research, reducing the SIUC carbon footprint, and generating credit hours for the University.
The Effects Of Electronic Throttle Control Systems On Gasoline Internal Combustion Engine Compression Testing Procedures, Blaine M. Heisner
The Effects Of Electronic Throttle Control Systems On Gasoline Internal Combustion Engine Compression Testing Procedures, Blaine M. Heisner
ASA Multidisciplinary Research Symposium
A study of the effects of an Electronic Throttle Control system on conventional compression testing procedures performed on a sample group of 22 vehicles. Multiple compression testing procedures were performed to determine if current, conventional compression testing procedures are valid for ETC equipped vehicles.
Drivability Of The Fiat 500 Multi-Air Engine Under Simulated Poor Maintenance, Andrew Croxell
Drivability Of The Fiat 500 Multi-Air Engine Under Simulated Poor Maintenance, Andrew Croxell
ASA Multidisciplinary Research Symposium
The FIAT Multi-Air valve-train uses hydraulic, mechanical, and electric components to control engine intake valves for more precise combustion. However, the incorporation of electronics and hydraulics creates additional potential for drivability issues. This study will simulate poor vehicle maintenance in a FIAT 500 Multi-Air engine to identify drivability concerns generated.
