Long-range research, designed to help cattlemen improve their herds, is under way in South Dakota. This publication reports the progress to elate on this research in beef cattle breeding. The breeder of purebred beef cattle should guide his breeding program according to the demands of various groups-commerical producer, feeder, packer, consumer. It is important that he consider the wants of each. The commerical producer has certain requirements in terms of conformation and weaning or yearling weights.
