An Analysis Of Machine Learning Hardware From Tenstorrent, Matthew Stephen Doerner May 2024

An Analysis Of Machine Learning Hardware From Tenstorrent, Matthew Stephen Doerner

Theses

Machine learning is growing at an exponential rate in industry today, with contemporary machine learning models having parameter counts in the high hundred millions to trillions paired with a huge computing requirement. As the field continues to grow and the models get larger and more computationally expensive, there is a greater need for specialized hardware that can accelerate the inference and training computations that are required of these machine learning models. The design of a custom hardware device specifically made to accelerate machine learning models is very intricate, with software and hardware development that needs to work together at the …

Immersive Virtual Reality Error Management Training For Cnc Machining Setup Procedures, Matthew Ryan Apr 2022

Immersive Virtual Reality Error Management Training For Cnc Machining Setup Procedures, Matthew Ryan

Theses

In order to address the expanding manufacturing talent gap for skilled machinists and limitations with existing machining training programs, this study introduces an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) computer numerical control (CNC) machining training environment CNC machine setup processes with a novel error management-based training curriculum. Current machinist training programs typically require active mentorship from skilled individuals over several years and consume a large amount of materials and tools. In addition, mistakes and errors made during the setup process can create safety risks, waste material, and break equipment, which have not been considered by the existing VR CNC milling training environments. …

Design Of Hardware Cnn Accelerators For Audio And Image Classification, Rohini Jayachandre Gillela May 2020

Design Of Hardware Cnn Accelerators For Audio And Image Classification, Rohini Jayachandre Gillela

Theses

Ever wondered how the world was before the internet was invented? You might soon wonder how the world would survive without self-driving cars and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The extensive research taking place in this rapidly evolving field is making self-driving cars futuristic and more reliable. The goal of this research is to design and develop hardware Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) accelerators for self-driving cars, that can process audio and visual sensory information. The idea is to imitate a human brain that takes audio and visual data as input while driving. To achieve a single die that can process …

Kick Boxing Coaching System, Wentian Chen Sep 2019

Kick Boxing Coaching System, Wentian Chen

Theses

There are three key considerations when training for kickboxing; correct body position, motivation, and how to achieve different training goals. Training gear available on the market does not provide enough relevant feedback to the user to validate the effectiveness of their training. I will design a coaching system for recreational and avid kick boxers that records user input while also providing an interactive experience that tracks training in a more meaningful way. This is a project focused on user experience and product testing. User Experience requires me to study the response of the human body when it is hit, and …

Don’T Train In Vain: An Enterprise Information System Implementation Training Strategy, Luke Auburn May 2015

Don’T Train In Vain: An Enterprise Information System Implementation Training Strategy, Luke Auburn

Theses

Universities often rely on complex information systems to manage student data. When higher education institutions implement enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to replace legacy systems, they may introduce new processes, concepts, and terminology to the students, faculty, and staff who are the system’s end users. A well-executed training plan can foster end-user adoption and increase an implementation’s chance of success. This thesis project provides a blueprint for incorporating a training plan that best fits the needs of end users into an overall system implementation project plan. To effectively train end users, the training team must identify skill gaps, ascertain the …

The Effect Of Training, Aim Pattern And Target Type On The Ergonomics And Efficiency Of Handheld Scanners, Nicolette M. Mcgeorge Aug 2009

The Effect Of Training, Aim Pattern And Target Type On The Ergonomics And Efficiency Of Handheld Scanners, Nicolette M. Mcgeorge

Theses

Handheld scanning is a prevalent industrial task that is prone to injury due to the repetitive motion of the task. Studies conducted with Rochester Institute of Technology and Honeywell have sought to discover the ergonomic and efficiency benefits of various scanning technologies and methods. One factor not fully investigated in these earlier works is the effect of training on the proper use of scanners. This thesis study compares trained and untrained user performance and ergonomics during a series of scanning tasks using a hand held omni-directional scanner. Comparison is based on such variables as target type (image that is scanned), …

The Graphic Arts Industry In Mexico - Training And Educational Aspects, Orbe Garcia Nov 1982

The Graphic Arts Industry In Mexico - Training And Educational Aspects, Orbe Garcia

Theses

THE GRAPHIC ARTS INDUSTRY IN MEXICO - TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL ASPECTS Purpose of the Study: The general purpose of the study was to identify the training/educational needs existing in the graphic arts industry in Mexico and to make an assessment of the present situation and how those needs are being met. Specific purposes were to determine how the existing training/educating plans and programs are dealing with the influx of new technology being imported; to examine the type of new technology being purchased, by which sectors and the reasons for capital and equipment expenditures by these sectors; to analyse what problems …
