"Today's systems are getting more complex with a significant number of variables to be monitored for information processing to aid in fault diagnosis and prognosis. Centralized diagnosis and prognosis schemes are not preferred for such complex systems as they lead to delayed or missed alarms and possibly catastropic [sic] failures. Instead, this thesis addresses a decentralized fault diagnosis and prognosis scheme both in continuous and discrete-time for nonlinear complex systems which can be divided into smaller subsystems.
