Data Aggregation Scheduling In Wireless Networks, Mingyuan Yan
Data Aggregation Scheduling In Wireless Networks, Mingyuan Yan
Computer Science Dissertations
Data aggregation is one of the most essential data gathering operations in wireless networks. It is an efficient strategy to alleviate energy consumption and reduce medium access contention. In this dissertation, the data aggregation scheduling problem in different wireless networks is investigated. Since Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are one of the most important types of wireless networks and data aggregation plays a vital role in WSNs, the minimum latency data aggregation scheduling problem for multi-regional queries in WSNs is first studied. A scheduling algorithm is proposed with comprehensive theoretical and simulation analysis regarding time efficiency. Second, with the increasing popularity …
Distributed Algorithms For Maximizing The Lifetime Of Wireless Sensor Networks, Akshaye Dhawan
Distributed Algorithms For Maximizing The Lifetime Of Wireless Sensor Networks, Akshaye Dhawan
Computer Science Dissertations
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are emerging as a key enabling technology for applications domains such as military, homeland security, and environment. However, a major constraint of these sensors is their limited battery. In this dissertation we examine the problem of maximizing the duration of time for which the network meets its coverage objective. Since these networks are very dense, only a subset of sensors need to be in "sense" or "on" mode at any given time to meet the coverage objective, while others can go into a power conserving "sleep" mode. This active set of sensors is known as a …
