Indigo: An In-Situ Distributed Gossip System Design And Evaluation, Paritosh Ramanan

Computer Science Theses

Distributed Gossip in networks is a well studied and observed problem which can be accomplished using different gossiping styles. This work focusses on the development, analysis and evaluation of a novel in-situ distributed gossip protocol framework design called (INDIGO). A core aspect of INDIGO is its ability to execute on a simulation setup as well as a system testbed setup in a seamless manner allowing easy portability. The evaluations focus on application of INDIGO to solve problems such as distributed average consensus, distributed seismic event location and lastly distributed seismic tomography. The results obtained herein validate the efficacy and reliability …

Back Away From The Lecture Notes: Using A Simulation Game To Engage Social Studies Haters, Christopher D. Moore May 2015

Back Away From The Lecture Notes: Using A Simulation Game To Engage Social Studies Haters, Christopher D. Moore

Middle and Secondary Education Dissertations

Simulation games may increase student engagement in the social studies classroom. Papert (1991) states that constructionism allows students to build, whether tangible or intangible objects, and that the building and conversation around the building allows student to learn best. In this study, the researcher observed and interviewed participants, as well as wrote in a journal about the experience, regarding playing a simulation game about the Electoral College. The researcher utilized en vivo coding to facilitate data interpretation. The participants were 18 year-old students at a suburban high school in a metropolitan area in the southeastern United States. These participants were …

Students' Perceptions Of Using Simulation In Respiratory Therapy Program, Ahmad Alhaykan Apr 2015

Students' Perceptions Of Using Simulation In Respiratory Therapy Program, Ahmad Alhaykan

Respiratory Therapy Theses

Respiratory therapy graduate students are going to face a clinical environment that commands greater responsibility and culpability than in years past. Therefore, respiratory therapy educators must prepare graduates for the multidimensional demands of the workplace. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to explore the perception of the undergraduate respiratory therapy (BSRT) and integrated graduate respiratory therapy (MSRT) students in the implementation of simulation in the educational laboratory setting. METHODS: Data were collected through a descriptive survey. The survey was distributed to a convenience sample of first year BSRT and MSRT students attending an accredited respiratory therapy program at an …
