The primary purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of personnel directors on strategies that are currently being used to retain teachers in the absence of a state-wide retention policy in the state of Georgia. Data collection methods were structured based on the review of literature. Components of the survey were sampled on six personnel directors in order to ensure that all areas of the topic were discussed. The researchers purpose of this study was to describe and explore the experiences of educational leadership faculty in the first year of the professoriate. A qualitative, phenomenological methodology was used to illuminate the lived experiences of these new faculty members. Research instrumentation and data collection consisted of three separate instruments used in three phases. First was a focus group interview given to three new educational leadership faculty from a regional university campus located in the Southeastern part of the United States. The purpose of this study was to examine the leadership practices of high school principals and parental involvement and to examine to what extent those practices differed between principals and how they related to parental involvement. The study revealed major issues surrounding parental involvement such as how principals defined parental involvement, how principals communicated the importance of parental involvement; what parental involvement activities impact student achievement; what common leadership practices influenced parental involvement; and what are some common experiences of high school principals regarding parental involvement. The purpose of this dissertation is to create a merging of illness, education, pragmatism and spirituality. The dissertation argues the pragmatist views of the lived experience propose a need for spiritual awareness when facing adversities such as illness. Currer and creation spirituality are woven together as a means of discovering a path to recovery. Perceptions of reality and education are approached, and an educational malignancy is suggested whereas unforeseen occurrences and entities are breaking down the current educational system.
