Growth Hormone (GH) may have many more effects on the human body than those commonly known by the public. A study was conducted to determine what these additional functions may be, if these functions could necessitate the continued use of GH treatment for adults with Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD), and how these effects might invite the additional usage of GH as a treatment for normal individuals. Research consisted of a literature review and a statistical analysis of 86 adult GHD reports regarding how GH treatment had affected various symptoms. Acne is a prevalent skin disorder and is displayed through various different incidences. Cystic acne, a severe form of acne that is difficult to treat, reaches deep into the skin underneath the epidermis layer and produces painful, inflamed cysts that contain sebum, dead skin cells, and Propionobacterium acnes, the acne causing bacteria. This systematic review investigated thirteen primary and secondary research studies from the past 20 years to determine the effects of intermittent fasting on chronic disease in adults through evaluation of biological markers pertaining to inflammation, oxidative stress, and the cardiovascular system. The dependent variables examined included heart rate, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels for cardiovascular risk; leptin and TNF-a for inflammatory risk; and F2-Isoprostanes and free radicals for oxidative stress biomarkers. Lack of acute-care hospital non-psychiatric nurses’ confidence and competence with suicidality has been reported in the literature. Evidence supports multi-modal education to increase recall and improve outcomes. The theory of self-efficacy included concepts of confidence as well as competence and served as the project’s theoretical underpinning. A descriptive design was utilized to examine the effects of an education intervention using various methodologies addressing suicide risk factors, prevention, management, and safe care on nurses’ perceived level of self-efficacy. Accelerated baccalaureate nursing students are at an increased risk for stress due to the fast pace and intensity of the program. The purpose of this research was to examine the perceived stresses and coping strategies of accelerated baccalaureate nursing students. The Student Nurse Stress Index (SNSI), (Jones & Johnston, 1999) and a qualitative question on coping strategies were completed by 24 ABSN students in an online survey. Results showed students perceived academic factors as the most stressful and first semester students had higher stress level scores than final semester students. This study explored the issue of medical-surgical unit nurse turnover and strategies to create nurse retention. The goal of this study was to provide nursing administrators with data that shows the cause of nurse turnover in this nursing specialty. The hypothesis was that there will be findings to indicate that medical-surgical nurses are at increased risk for employment turnover due to increased patient load and patient turnover. To study this concept, the Revised Casey-Fink Nurse Retention Survey was utilized. The results of the survey were revealed, and recommendations were made that may lead to nurse retention on the medical-surgical unit.

The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) was purchased by a southern school district to combat bullying and raise perceptions of school climate. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine the effectiveness of the OBPP in combatting bullying in a school for the 2015-2016 school year. Teacher burnout and stress are at an all-time high. The teaching profession is reported to be one of the most stressful occupations, especially in 21st century learning environments. The researcher discovered mindfulness and was amazed how this practice allowed her to “breathe” through the difficult and challenging moments. Inspired by her own mindfulness practice, the researcher wanted to discover if mindfulness was as powerful a tool to other mindfulness teachers and educators. The purpose of this mixed-method study was to examine the impact of professional development on elementary mathematics teaching self-efficacy as well as the influence of teacher self-efficacy on student achievement. Statistical t tests were used to analyze the dispersion of the teachers’ personal mathematics teaching efficacy beliefs (PMTE) and mathematics teaching outcome expectancy efficacy beliefs (MTOE). To develop a broader perspective, a qualitative analysis of interview data was implemented. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine if single-gender settings have a statistically significant effect on African-American male and/or African-American female academic achievement on English assessment from sixth through eighth grade. Social science statistics were used to determine if a statistically significant difference occurred in the performance of African-American males and/or female students in single-gender classrooms compared to African-American male and female students in coed classrooms. This study investigated how teachers understand themselves as adult learners and perceive their professional learning experiences within a rural school district in North Carolina. This study was a replication of Fitzgerald’s (2014) dissertation and sought to extend the generalizability of the original study. An explanatory mixed-methods design was used, and the two sources of data collected included an online survey and virtual interviews.
