Perceived Justice, Community Support, Community Identity And Residents’ Quality Of Life: Testing An Integrative Model, Lujun Su, Songshan (Sam) Huang, Mehran Nejati
Research outputs 2014 to 2021
This study tested an integrative model to investigate the effect of perceived justice, in its three dimensions (procedural, distributive, and interactional), on destination residents’ quality of life (QOL) with perceived community support and community identification as mediators. Analysis on a sample of 453 Gulangyu Island residents in China shows that procedural and interactional justice positively influenced perceived community support, whilst procedural and distributive justice positively affected community identification; both perceived community support and community identification contributed to resident QOL. This study offers a new perspective on how to improve resident QOL in tourist destinations. Theoretical and marketing implications are discussed.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of tuberculosis (TB) remains high worldwide. Current strategies will not eradicate TB by 2035; instead, by 2182 is more likely. Therefore, it is urgent that new risk factors be identified.
METHODS: An ecological study was conducted in 340 prefectures in China from 2005 to 2015. The spatial distribution of TB incidence was shown by clustering and hotspot analysis. The relationship between the distribution patterns and six meteorological factors was evaluated by the geographically weighted regression (GWR) model.
RESULTS: During the 11 years of the study period, TB incidence was persistently low in the east and high in …

Research outputs 2014 to 2021
Background: Esophageal cancer (EC) causes more than 400 thousand deaths per year, and half of them occur in China. There are discrepancies regarding the survival of EC patients between population-based surveillance studies and hospital-based studies.
Objectives: We aimed to synthesize the survival data from hospital-based EC studies in the Chinese population from 2000 to 2018 and to compare the survival rates between EC patients with different clinical classifications.
Methods: The protocol of this systematic review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD-42019121559). We searched Embase, PubMed, CNKI, and Wanfang databases for studies published between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2018. We …

The Moderation Of Gender And Generation In The Effects Of Perceived Destination Image On Tourist Attitude And Visit Intention: A Study Of Potential Chinese Visitors To Australia, Songshan (Sam) Huang, Robert Van Der Veen
Research outputs 2014 to 2021
The overall purpose of this study is to examine the moderating roles of gender and generation in the effects of perceived destination image on tourist attitude and visit intention among Chinese potential tourists to Australia. Australia is one of the preferred destinations to Chinese tourists, and the China market emerges to be increasingly important to destination marketing organizations in Australia. Echoing the call for more gender studies in the tourism literature and also based on the generation theory, this study employed a cross-sectional questionnaire survey design and used structural equation modelling in its analysis. Survey data were collected through convenience …

Research outputs 2014 to 2021
Disability has become a critical issue among elderly populations, yet limited large-scale research related to this issue has been conducted in China, an aging society. This study explored sex and urban-rural differences in disability transitions and life expectancies among older adults in China. Data were collected from the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey (CLHLS), which enrolled people aged 65 and older and was conducted in randomly selected counties and cities across 22 provinces in China. Disability was diagnosed based on basic activities of daily living (BADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). A significant global development in the first decade of the 21st Century has been the rise of several nationshitherto not considered key players in the international scene. The following up and coming nations have recentlybeen grouped respectively as BRIC and BASIC: Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRIC); and Brazil, South Africa,India, and China (BASIC) (Wilson & Purushothaman, 2003). Noticeably, the two nations featured in both thesegroupings are China and India. China’s and India’s meteoric rise to the global arena, and the sheer magnitude oftheir populations, has led some scholars to assert that there is an ‘irresistible’ shift of global power …
