It is possible to stage a woman such as Franziska Gräfin/countess zu Reventlow in a myriad of characters and figures. Her richness on adventures and on her literary handling provides many possibilities of interpretation. Reventlow liked to stage herself and often, with varying degrees of bourgeois outrage or enthusiasm as a result. This self-staging as well as her foreign productions testify of a complex system of identity finding and definition of reality.
