This is a project to review the Raube publication as a secondary data source. The copyright date on the materials is 1947, but the research data is probably from 1944. Since the publication is out-of-date and cannot be accessed, the publication will be summarized and then comments added by content experts regarding the importance of the data as a historical document as well as a baseline for development of a system for analyzing and modeling employee and management relations.

The Raube manuscript was used as a secondary source to obtain a historical perspective about important factors that influence employees. Included in this assessment was a perspective from employees, management, and unions. This type of analysis is essential to understand the relationships between management and employees and be able to develop a model of collaboration and cooperation from both perspectives.

The profession of employee services was an outgrowth of an early recreation movement at the turn of the 20th century. This does not suggest that there were not programs before this date. It only indicates that the importance was recognized at this point in time.
It flourished through a professional organization that began in the 1940's and eventually saw its demise in the mid-2000. This does not suggest that this movement is not alive today. It only implies that the problems were organizational.
