The Identity And Role Of The Gift-Giving Spirit In Numbers 11, Jeanmark Kessler Jan 2015

The Identity And Role Of The Gift-Giving Spirit In Numbers 11, Jeanmark Kessler

Honors Theses

Current scholarship analyzes spiritual gifts predominantly from Acts 2, Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4. With the assumption that the actions of the Spirit are constant and persistent throughout Scripture, this study develops an Old Testament perspective on the Spirit's identity and role as gift-giver. This exegetical research investigates Numbers 11:16-29 as the key passage, where the Holy Spirit bestows His gifts upon Israel's leaders. In addition, the valid connections between Numbers 11 and 2 Kings 2 provide a broader and more consistent contextual interpretations of the identity and role of the Holy Spirit within the Old Testament.

An Investigation Of The Effectiveness Of Training In The Utilization Of Spiritual Gifts In The Personal Ministries Of Ontario Seventh-Day Adventists, Fitzroy S. Maitland

Problem. The New Testament indicates that spiritual gifts occupy a crucial function in the life and growth of the church. No known empirical study has measured the effectiveness of nurture and training for gift implementation. This study was designed to investigate behavioral change in awareness and use of spiritual gifts by Seventh-day Adventist members.

Methodology. The New spiritual Gifts Inventory (NSGI) was used to identify awareness of giftedness in five clusters--Teaching, Shepherding-Evangelizing, Supporting, Counseling, and Leadership. An Activity Inventory was developed for the study with 20 activity questions corresponding to the NSGI. The following statistical designs were used to analyze …

Relationship Between Four Temperament Types And Nineteen Spiritual Gifts, Roland L. Joachim

Dissertations

Problem. No studies have been found that examine empirically the possible relationship between temperament and spiritual gifts. Traditionally they have been seen as offspring of discrete disciplines, the former belonging to the realm of psychology and the latter to theology. When some writers recently hypothesized a possible correlation between temperament and spiritual gifts, others discredited the notion.

This study was undertaken to investigate the possible correlation between the traditional four temperament types and a selection of nineteen spiritual gifts of the New Testament.

Method. The data base for this study consisted of 1,067 Christian graduate students and church members from …

A Study Of Spiritual Gifts With A Program Designed For Its Understanding And Implementation By A Local Congregation, Lester Levi Bennett

Professional Dissertations DMin

Problem. The Seventh-day Adventist denomination sees itself as under mandate to present and demonstrate to the world a special message. This mission has been taken as the challenge to "finish the work." In the New Testament, the church in ministry is often presented in terms of the operation of spiritual gifts by which the Holy Spirit equips the individual member for a unique work. Yet Seventh-day Adventists have, for the most part, given very little attention to this subject except for an emphasis on the gift of prophecy. Would a more comprehensive presentation of this doctrine for purposes of its …
