Healthcare is a lifelong journey that involves changes, decision making, and awareness of health needs and concerns. As children grow up and age out of the pediatric system, transitioning occurs. Healthcare transitioning (HCT) is a process that assists individuals with the different stages of their health journey. The purpose of this study was to further research, more in-depth, college student's attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors concerning sexually transmitted infections and unsafe sexual practices using the Health Belief Model as a framework. By utilizing an electronic survey and social media a non-probability convenience sample of 167 students was assessed. This study was given to undergraduate and graduate students at a midwestern college campus and was intended to evaluate college student's knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions concerning sexually transmitted infections. Among college students, flu vaccination rates are abysmal. The unique barriers students face are numerous. This effort explores the value of a multidisciplinary approach to increasing flu vaccination. To improve vaccine rates, several departments have teamed up for a multidisciplinary approach to flu education and prevention. Plans for the entire semester are in place to highlight the importance flu prevention. Events include vaccination clinics, a library exhibit, talks, movie screenings, student work, themed menu items at the student café, and a competition. We describe collaboration between a health promotion professor and librarian to design a course in the learning management system D2L that does not use a textbook. Instead of a textbook, materials from professional and governmental organizations, supplemented with library materials are used. This approach encourages critical thinking to integrate information from multiple sources. Students also become familiar with information sources they will use after graduation

Osteoporosis is known as a pediatric disease with geriatric consequences. A disturbing trend involves the ambivalence of students towards actions and behaviors of sexual harassment that they consider “normal”. This poster explores perceptions among teens concerning acceptance of peer-peer sexually implicit actions and behaviors.

"Sewing A Safety Net: Scarborough's Maritime Community, 1747-1765", Charles Foy

From 1747 to 1765 Scarborough created a safety net to keep its maritime dependents from becoming impoverished. A web of kinship connections that permitted sailors to move between land and sea as well as between maritime roles as they aged; the employment of maritime servants; the extensive hiring of elderly seamen; the use of the Seamen’s Sixpence after legislative reform in 1747 to develop locally operated seamen’s hospitals for the benefit of sailors and their families; and strong community support of the hospitals worked together to provide a social safety net that was, by eighteenth century standards, robust and effective.
