The purpose of this project is to bring parental awareness to the subject matter, expand their knowledge base, and increase the parenting skill set related to childhood sexual development. The goal of this project is to shed light on childhood sexual development in service of best practice parenting, ultimately leading to optimal child outcomes. Providing parents with the knowledge to foster the healthy sexual development of their children is the ultimate goal. The participants were recruited from the California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) student body and were asked to fill out a demographic questionnaire.

Many of children's outcomes are related to the parenting styles that they experience. This study seeks to show how parenting styles and emotional intelligence are associated with one another.

An Examination Of The Direct Versus Indirect Effects Of Parenting Behavior On Academic Achievement: The Potential Role Of Perceived Competence And Motivational Orientation, Ana Veronica Garcia

Examines the interrelationships among parenting styles, children's perceived competence, and children's academic motivation. A correlational-regressional approach was used to test the hypothesis that perceived parent responsiveness and expectations would be positively correlated with children's perceived competence, motivation, and academic achievement. The sample consisted of 50 fourth, fifth and sixth grade students from an ethnically diverse Southern California private school. The correlations among perceptions of competence, preference for challenge (i.e., motivational orientation), and achievement were supported. However, the correlations among the parenting behavior were only partially supported.

Parenting Styles And Parents' Attitudes Toward Learning And Performance In Their Children, Chaoping Violet Wang

The study attempted to show that parenting styles are directly related to parents' goals with respect to their children's education. Parents' goals, and the behaviors they motivate, were assumed to be a mechanism accounting for well-established effects of parenting style on children's school achievement. The sample consisted of 223 undergraduate college mothers enrolled in psychology courses. The results indicated that parents' use of an authoritative style was positively related to their adoption of learning goals with respect to their child, as evident, for example, in their use of a process focus and indirect homework assistance strategies. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of parent-adolescent individuation on quality of siblings relationship among late adolescent females. Findings to date indicate that while changes are occurring in the parent-child subsystem. In accordance with the family systems theory, during the process of individuation the sibling relationship experiences some conflict or rivalry.

Parents' Division Of Childcare Responsibilities: Predictors Of Fathers' Childcare Involvement And Egalitarian Attitudes, Amy Elizabeth Latta

The current study was designed to examine whether adult childrens' reports of egalitarian parenting by their parents would influence the likelihood for egalitarian parenting behavior and gender role attitudes of the adult child. In general, results support the notion of intergenerational transmission of egalitarian parenting behavior. Individuals whose fathers were more involved in parenting reported greater father involvement in parenting their own children.
