The introduction of automation in the workforce has negative effects that go beyond technological job displacement. The process of introducing automated systems creates stress in employees, which may relate to lower performance. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between automation threat and employee-related outcomes such as self-efficacy, means efficacy, and employability and how social support, organizational support, and instrumental support can help buffer against this type of threat. Furthermore, transformational and transactional leadership styles of the manager/supervisor were examined, as they related to the various types of support. In the present research I investigated the impact ageism has on older employees’ occupational self-efficacy, and whether social support could decrease or change the strength of the relationship. Another goal of the present study was to assess if age and occupational self-efficacy had a linear relationship. Considering that older workers are often targeted by instances of ageism, this study focused on the ageist experiences of employees who were 40 years or older. Sexual assault has consistently been found to be associated with depression and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptomatology. Research shows that self-blaming attributions are directly linked to distress (Walsh, & Foshee, 1998; Walsh & Bruce, 2011). More specifically, the type of self-blame (i.e., behavioral and characterological) an individual associates with their experienced sexual assault, may influence their perceptions of avoidability of future assault and post-assault recovery. Self-efficacy, means-efficacy, and locus of control have been found to affect performance. This study was a 2 x 2 x 2 between groups quasi-experiment, in 2 parts, designed to measure interaction between locus of control, self efficacy, and means-efficacy. Participants were 257 students at California State University, San Bernardino aged 18 through 63 years and about half were Hispanic females.

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate means-efficacy through mastery experience. Traditionally self-efficacy has been shown to influence an individual's expectation about their performance. Students participated in typing tests with past experience using a high or low quality keyboard. The following study utilized a priori contrasts and one-way ANOVAS to analysis data. One hundred ninety-six students from California State University, San Bernardino participated in the study.

The purpose of this project was to explore parental self-efficacy among parents of children with autism receiving home-based Applied Behavioral Analysis (A.B.A.) treatment. Applied Behavioral Analysis (A.B.A.) is defined as the use of information acquired through the science of observable behavior analysis to facilitate the improvement of behaviors that are socially important. Twenty-one mothers and eight fathers of children with autism receiving home- based (A.B.A.) treatment services from a southern California non-public agency participated in this project. This study will explore the effects of self-regulation and the tendency to commit to or refrain from creative projects. The relationship between one's feelings of creative achievement and motivation to pursue creative activities will also be investigated. A total of 274 students of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) were recruited from lower division and upper division psychology courses. Participants rated 12 questions regarding their creative identity on a 4 point scale.

The purpose of this study was to expand on the definition of the means efficacy construct and its relationship to task-specific self-efficacy. The current research has three studies: assesssing quality means efficacy from a self-report method, study two assessing quality means efficacy from a self-report method, and study three comparing quality and quantity means efficacy to determine which would be a better predictor of confidence in various tasks.

The primary purpose of this study was to examine superior-subordinate dyads which violate relational norms and produce status inconsistency. Specifically, within the context of supervisor age and education, occupational norms suggest that employees expect their supervisor to be older and have a higher level of education. Three underlying behavioral traits of self-preservation, which may be related to leadership are self-monitoring, self-promotion, and agentic traits. These are important to leadership because managers desire to select employees that have the image and the presentation that high self-monitors and self-promoters emulate. This study revealed that self-promotion is associated with leader behaviors that are likely to assist female employees obtain leadership positions in the workplace.

Means Efficacy is the belief in the utility of the resources that are necessary to complete a specific task. This research examined the relationship between means-efficacy and self-efficacy on perceptions of resources, perceptions of abilities, peformance expectations and actual peformance. Examines the contextual effects of social persuasion (represented by self, client, peer and supervisor's feedback) and mastery experiences (represented by formal level of education and work experience) on specific self-efficacy outcomes and perceived advancement potential in a sample population of nurses at a Southern California hospital. Results of the study suggest that self, client, peer, and supervisor's feedback consistently predict significant self-efficacy outcomes.
