Effect Of Different Corrosion Inhibitors On The Corrosion Of Cast Iron In Palm Biodiesel Nov 2011

Effect Of Different Corrosion Inhibitors On The Corrosion Of Cast Iron In Palm Biodiesel

A.S. Md Abdul Haseeb

Biodiesel is currently in regular use as an alternative fuel over conventional petroleum diesel. However, corrosion of automotive materials is one of the concerns related to biodiesel compatibility issues. In addition, auto-oxidation of biodiesel can also enhance the corrosiveness of biodiesel. The present study aims to investigate inhibition effect of ethylenediamine (EDA), n-butylamine (nBA), tert-butylamine (TBA) against corrosion of cast iron. Static immersion tests in biodiesel in the presence (100 ppm) and absence of different corrosion inhibitors were carried out at room temperature for 1200 hours. At the end of the test, corrosion characteristic was investigated by weight loss measurements ...

Influence Of Ni Nanoparticle On The Morphology And Growth Of Interfacial Intermetallic Compounds Between

A.S. Md Abdul Haseeb

TiO2 thin films were deposited on unheated and heated glass substrates at an elevated sputtering pressure of 3 Pa by radio frequency (RF) reactive magnetron sputtering. TiO2 films deposited at room temperature were annealed in air for 1 h at various temperatures ranging from 300 to 600 °C. The structural and optical properties of the thin films were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-VIS-NIR) spectrophotometry. XRD results show that as-grown and post-annealed TiO2 films have anatase crystal structure. Higher substrate and annealing temperatures result in a slight increase of crystallinity. TiO2 ...

Study Of The Wear Behaviour Of Al-4.5% Cu-3.4% Fe In Situ Composite: Effect Of Thermal And Mechanical Processing

A.S. Md Abdul Haseeb

Al-Cu-based MMCs reinforced by Al-Fe intermetallics are investigated for their wear behaviour. The composite (Al-4.5 mass% Cu-3.4 mass% Fe) was produced by solidification processing where the Al-Fe-based intermetallic formed in situ in a matrix of mainly Al-Cu alloy. The effects of thermal and mechanical processing, viz., as-cast condition, solution treatment, aging and hot rolling on the wear behaviour of the composites were examined. The composites were characterized by optical microscopy, SEM, microhardness measurements and X-ray diffraction. The wear behaviour of the composites was studied in a pin-on-disc type wear apparatus. The as-cast in situ composite exhibited the highest ...

A Technical Note On The Production Of Zirconia And Zircon Brick From Locally Available Zircon In Bangladesh

A.S. Md Abdul Haseeb

In this study, the potentiality of Bangladesh zircon as a raw material for zirconia and zircon brick production was examined. Decomposition of zircon (ZrSiO4) into zirconia (ZrO2) was attempted by using caustic soda (NaOH) as the decomposition agent. 5-10 μm size zircon, 5-30 wt.% NaOH, and decomposition temperatures ranging from 1300 to 1500°C were investigated. X-ray diffraction method using Mo Kα radiation was used in order to find out the extent of decomposition of zircon into zirconia. Zircon bricks of 0.06 mm× 0.06 mm× 0.025 mm shaped were made under a pressure of 15 MPa. Carboxi ...

Failure Analysis Of Superheater Tube Supports Of The Primary Reformer In A Fertilizer Factory Jan 2005

Failure Analysis Of Superheater Tube Supports Of The Primary Reformer In A Fertilizer Factory

A.S. Md Abdul Haseeb

A failure analysis of superheater tube supports of the primary reformer in a local fertilizer factor is presented. A number of tube supports failed at approximately half of their designed service life. Following the failure, the factory was visited, and relevant information and samples were collected. The samples were investigated in the laboratory by chemical analysis, macro- and microhardness measurements, macro-and micrometallographic examinations, and X-ray diffractometry. The analysis showed the supports were fabricated from HH-type heat-resisting alloy and that the failure mode was high-temperature creep. The microstructure of the alloy showed the presence of massive intergranular as well as intragranular ...

Xrd, Xps And Sims Investigations On Electrodeposited Nickel-Phosphorous Alloy Coatings

A.S. Md Abdul Haseeb

Structural and chemical investigations on electrodeposited nickel-phosphorous alloy coatings by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) are described. Electrodeposition of nickel-phosphorous coatings has been carried out galvanostatically in a hypophosphite bath at two different current densities, namely 20 and 80 mA cm -2. XRD has shown a broad peak indicating an amorphous structure in both cases. XPS shows the presence of Ni 2P compound. XPS also reveals the amount of phosphorous in both coatings to be around 10.20 wt.%. SIMS has shown that the coating deposited at lower current density (20 mA ...
