Vibration-Induced Densification Of Granule Materials, Ninghua Zhang
Vibration-Induced Densification Of Granule Materials, Ninghua Zhang
Dissertations
Physical experiments as well as discrete element simulations of vibration are carried out. The use of different amplitudes and frequencies are applied in the experiments to facilitate the observation of densification trends with mono-disperse acrylic spheres and multi-disperse polyethylene pellets. For mono-disperse acrylic spheres, four densification trends are found at different vibration conditions, and attaining the "maximum density" is closely related to the combination of vibration frequency and amplitude, in agreement with experiments in the literature. For multi-disperse polyethylene pellets, there is a substantial increase in solids fraction due to the effects of particle shape and surface friction. Computer simulations …
Computer Simulation Of Automotive Disc Brake Noise, Vadims Milovs
Computer Simulation Of Automotive Disc Brake Noise, Vadims Milovs
Theses
Disc brake noise continues to be a major concern throughout the automotive industry despite efforts to reduce its occurrence. Many articles are written on this subject, but there still is no agreement on what exactly causes disc brake noise and what part of the braking system is responsible for it.
The goal of current research was to build a simplified but inclusive mathematical model of a disc brake system and investigate it using Matlab software. The twodimensional model including damping, Stribeck effect and stick-slip friction was built.
The model is unique in a way that all the similar models have …
Off-Line Programming Using Igrip, Narahari K. Bhandary
Off-Line Programming Using Igrip, Narahari K. Bhandary
Theses
AT&T's FWS-200 (Flexible Work Station) has been modeled and simulated to implement Off-Line Programming (OLP). IGRIP (Interactive Graphics Robot Instruction Program) from Deneb Robotics, Inc. has been used to simulate the FWS operation.
A GSL(Graphics Simulation Language) program has been used to simulate the chip placements during PCB assembly. The program leads the user through the motions of chip placement, and after the simulation run downloads the motion sequence to the FWS. The animation sequences of the FWS have been downloaded to the FWS on the Factory Floor using a C program, which is utilized to communicate the data to …
Computer Simulation Of Cavity Filling During Injection Molding Process, Sumit Banerjee
Computer Simulation Of Cavity Filling During Injection Molding Process, Sumit Banerjee
Theses
A numerical technique is proposed for the simulation of cavity filling process during injection molding of glass-bead filled polypropylene. The mold cavity is of cylindrical shape. Marker And Cell (MAC) method is utilized for solving the transient flow phenomena, after a mathematical simulation of the flow model is carried out by using the relevant continuity and-momentum equations governing the system. The complexity of the equations involved, results in the simplifying assumption of incompressible and isothermal flow process. A computer program is written on the basis of finite-difference equations developed during the application of MAC method under the prevailing conditions.
The …
