Women Entrepreneurs In Egypt: A Qualitative Study Of Perceptions And Challenges, Rwan Zakria Abdelrhman Jun 2019

Women Entrepreneurs In Egypt: A Qualitative Study Of Perceptions And Challenges, Rwan Zakria Abdelrhman

Theses and Dissertations

Although all entrepreneurs and business owners encounter obstacles and barriers, the challenges that female entrepreneurs face in Egypt are surmount. Female entrepreneurs in Egypt lack the requisite training and basic advising services that would keep them updated with new technological skills. Moreover, women are more likely to discontinue their businesses due to limited access to finance. Furthermore, women face restrictive legal and institutional burdens when establishing their business or when starting a new one. In addition, cultural constraints are another challenge that negatively influence women's credibility, their empowerment and self-confidence. The current study, intends to investigate the challenges that female …

Democratization And The Role Of The Military: Cases Of Serbia And Tunisia, Mona Abdelmoneim Elhusseiny Feb 2019

Democratization And The Role Of The Military: Cases Of Serbia And Tunisia, Mona Abdelmoneim Elhusseiny

Theses and Dissertations

The 21st century witnessed two waves of uprisings, the Color Revolutions, which erupted in East Europe and the Arab Spring, during which the people took over the streets to demand their rights and freedoms, as well as, to oust their authoritarian rulers. Nevertheless, the outcomes of such uprisings varied considerably among the affected countries; while few were successfully able to witness a regime breakdown and a democratizing transition, others failed either to achieve a regime breakdown, or to follow a democratic transition following their regime's breakdown. Thus, this research investigated why some countries have succeeded to follow a democratizing transition …

The Role Of Political Parties In Egypt (1978-2017) And The Resilience Of Authoritarianism, Yasmeen Shaheen Feb 2019

The Role Of Political Parties In Egypt (1978-2017) And The Resilience Of Authoritarianism, Yasmeen Shaheen

Theses and Dissertations

The current thesis focuses on the immense importance of the role of political parties in Egyptian politics and the Resilience of Authoritarianism, tracing their evolution and development from 1978 to 2017. It has proved that Egyptian political parties, in the period of the present work, have failed to consolidate democratic transformation by institutionalizing authoritarianism. This role has been so marginal that these pre- and post-Uprising political parties have been ridiculed as Ahzab Cartooniyah (Cardboard Parties). It has been found that about 100 parties out of 109 are remarkably so feeble and even paralyzed in their opposition to autocratic and dictatorial …

The Ex Officio Power Of The Arbitrator To Raise New Issues Of Law In Islamic Finance Disputes, Mohamed Hassan Feb 2019

The Ex Officio Power Of The Arbitrator To Raise New Issues Of Law In Islamic Finance Disputes, Mohamed Hassan

Theses and Dissertations

The legal nature of arbitration varies from the legal nature of litigation. While the judge derives his authority from the state power, the arbitrator derives his powers, in the first place, from the parties' agreement. The power of the court to raise new issues of law ex officio is widely recognized. When it comes to arbitration, the matter is more complicated. The ex officio power of the arbitrator to raise new issues of law is controversial in international commercial arbitration. The situation is even more complicated in contemporary Islamic finance disputes due to the nature of the applicable law to …

Physical And Biological Insights Of Nanostructured Ti-8mn Alloy For Coronary Drug Eluting Stent Material, Alaa Mohyeldin Soliman Feb 2019

Physical And Biological Insights Of Nanostructured Ti-8mn Alloy For Coronary Drug Eluting Stent Material, Alaa Mohyeldin Soliman

Theses and Dissertations

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the main cause of death worldwide. Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is the common cause of heart failure. In CAD, lipids and fats that are circulating with the blood may get accumulated within the injured arteries' walls and restrict the blood flow to the myocardium, which in turn results in atherosclerosis. Since the approval of Drug Eluting Stents (DES) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment option for CAD, multidisciplinary research is being conducted to introduce biomaterials with adequate physical properties as well as excellent clinical outcomes. …

Molecular And Functional Dissection Of Igaa, The Negative Regulator Of The E.Coli Rcs System., Nahla A. Hussein Feb 2019

Molecular And Functional Dissection Of Igaa, The Negative Regulator Of The E.Coli Rcs System., Nahla A. Hussein

Theses and Dissertations

The cell envelope of Gram-negative bacteria is a complex macromolecular structure, performing essential functions such as transport, respiration and protection. Moreover, it is the first line of contact between bacteria and their surroundings. Thus, maintenance of the cell envelope homeostasis is essential for bacterial survival and adaptation. In enterobacteria, the Rcs system (Regulator of capsule synthesis) monitors envelope integrity and induces a stress response when damages occur in the outer membrane or in the peptidoglycan layer. Built around a two-component system, Rcs controls gene expression via a cascade of phosphoryl transfer reactions. Being particularly complex, Rcs also involves the outer …

Nanostructured Scaffold For Neural Tissue Regeneration, Walaa Abbas Feb 2018

Nanostructured Scaffold For Neural Tissue Regeneration, Walaa Abbas

Theses and Dissertations

Neural regeneration treatment after spinal cord injury (SCI) is still unsatisfactory despite the advances made in the field. One of the main challenges in neural tissue engineering is the axonal growth and directionality. Cell and molecular therapies can enhance the axonal attachment and growth. However, axons may be unsuccessful to maintain their native organization and may grow in a disorganized fashion. Nanofiber scaffolds represent a potential solution for the problem of nerve regeneration and axon extension, as they can mimic the neural tissue extra cellular matrix (ECM) and combine the advantages of the combinatorial therapy for nerve injury in SCI …
