The purpose of this study is to examine parents’ levels of satisfaction with school choice by comparing charter and traditional public schools at the secondary level. The main assumption of the study is that parental satisfaction with school choice is related to parental involvement with children’s education and their views of school-home communication. The study is guided by Bourdieu’s theory of capital to interpret parental involvement efforts and their assessment of school-home communication as ways to acquire social capital for themselves and their children. This dissertation explores the medicalization domains through three studies to assert that communication exists in all facets of the patient- physician relationship. The first study is a policy analysis that examines the institutional domain through policies and educational standards created in the medical community that dictate the importance of communication. The second study examines medical students' level of clinical empathy using the Jefferson Scales of Empathy. The second study ties to the conceptual domain of the medicalization of communication, showing the creation of terminology (i.e., clinical empathy, clinical communication) helps uniquely identify and measure empathy through communication. Rhetsec_ examines the rhetorical situation, the rhetorical appeals, and how phishing emails simulate "real" emails in five categories of phishing emails. While the first focus of cybersecurity is security, you must also understand the language of computers to know how to secure them. Phishing is one way to compromise security using computers, and so the computer becomes a tool for malicious language (phishing emails and malware) to be transmitted. The quantitative research project examined the Georgia superintendents' assessment of their use of the six crucial C's in their job performance. The research method used for the study was a qualitative analysis of data collected from eight interviews of Georgia superintendents under contract during the 2005-2006 school year. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of control expectancies on fraternity and sorority member's perceptions of their group. Based on a review of the literature pertinent to this investigation nine hypotheses were forwarded. Generally speaking, the hypotheses suggest that fraternity and sorority members perceptions will differ based on their control expectancies. One hundred ninety-five fraternity and sorority members completed a questionnaire that included the Three Factor Locus of Control Scale (Levenson, 1973), the Perceived Homophily Measure (McCroskey et al., 1975), the Quality of Relationship Inventory (Pierce et al., 1991), dimensions of the Group Behavior Inventory (Friedlander, …
