Seismic Interpretation And Structural Evaluation Of The Hope Basin, Alaska, Virginia L. Elswick

The Hope Basin is a Cenozoic basin located off the coast of Alaska, in the Bering Sea. Its initial formation was theorized to have occurred from right-lateral movement on the Kobuk fault, a strike-slip fault located in northwestern Alaska. However, from an interpretation of newly reprocessed seismic lines that are located in the southeastern portion of the basin, it is evident that distinct characteristics of strike-slip basins, as evaluated by past authors, are not present within the study area.
