Create Engaging Library Resource Reading Lists, Ariana Baker, Allison Faix
South Carolina Conference on Innovations in Teaching and Learning
Every university library has a myriad of online resources just waiting for faculty and students to discover and use. Faculty will find diverse types of materials (ebooks, journals, magazines, streaming videos, primary sources, images, etc.) that can support or supplement the content they are teaching, sometimes even making a traditional textbook unnecessary. These attributes make the college attractive to students from rural communities who often are first generation college students. Striving to survive against competition from both well-funded larger private colleges as well as from state colleges and universities, places pressure on college administration to …

The proposed session would discuss the results of an adjunct faculty needs assessment conducted at UNC Charlotte. Additionally, it would present the steps that have since been taken to better serve adjuncts at this institution in terms of clarity, communication, networking, and professional development. Initial responses from department heads and adjunct faculty will also be discussed …
